Not telling family or friends the baby's name because I don't care to hear what their opinions on it are, but I am curious to hear what you all have to say.

I am a major lurker and have noted many opinionated ladies on these boards!

This. Sorry, I like both... but the flow is terrible. They're both really short names, both start with vowels, and it's awkward to say.

I love Ian. My baby would be Ian if DH agreed but he doesn't. He had a bad boss named Ian.

This was my thoughts as well. I would choose a different middle name unless it has some sort of family meaning to it.

Love it! I know one LO named Ian and one guy my age (30's). Not common but very nice. DH's name is Eric so it gets a Yes

as well. Not used much at all nowadays.

I like Ian but not Eric. What about Ian Alaric? I feel like that flows better. Or Ian Derek?

LOVE the name Ian but it really doesn't flow with Eric as a middle name. You would do better with a middle name that started with a consonant or at least wasn't two syllables like the first name. Is it a family name?

Sounds good to me. I'm not someone that is in to flow. I like meaning more/using a family name. I can see how the flow comments are made though. Yell it out your backdoor like he needs to be home for the night. That's a good test.

Thanks for the opinions.

Ian is just because we like it, and Eric is homage to a family friend that passed away young and I didn't really want to use it for a first name.

Like the idea of yelling it out the back door

Obviously masculine, easy to say and spell, decent flow and reminds me of Dr Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park, which is why for 15 years I loved both Ian and Malcolm.
