Darkening a bedroom?

We will be traveling to beach and the room lo may stay in has a very sheer valance and a curtain rod that is light as a feather. Any idea what I coukd use to make room darker? I have a room darkening drape I put over his regular curtain rod daily, but th windows rod will

they have blackout shades at lowes and home depot, i think. they are made of black paper, are pleated and have tape at the top. just cut it to the size you need, peel the paper to expose the tape and stick to top of window. you can take a clothespin to pinch it back during the day.

I think the trash bag + a roll of masking tape sounds like the easiest thing to toss in a suitcase!
