September 2013 Moms

Baby Bumblebee song

Okay, this is dorky, but this whole pregnancy, I've been going back and forth between "my baby is nevvvveerrrrr coming" and "oh my word we're going to have a baby and he or she will be here before Christmas oh my gosh!" Sometimes I guess it just hits me that I'll actually have a child, and I won't be pregnant forever. Well this morning I woke up with that song in my head, you know, "I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee, won't my mommy be so proud of me" and I was imagining singing it to my baby and it just felt so real. I'm SO excited for September to come!

Anyone else go back and forth between excitement and disbelief?

Is there any really specific thing you're looking forward to doing when your baby is here? Like special songs to sing, outfits to put him/her in, family traditions? Do you ever just imagine the little moments?

Re: Baby Bumblebee song

  • Each holiday that passes in think about how I will share the next one with my little man and it still feels so unreal. I can't wait either!

  • You and me both. It is so exciting-terrifying.

I can't WAIT to dress her up and later teach her to cook and sew.

Thank you for getting the bumblebee song stuck in my head!

I think about that too! I start imagining Christmas with a little baby and I tear up. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I'm just soooo excited that I'll be a mama- it's only six months away! But I've also thought about Easter, Valentine's Day, Halloween... I just can't wait!

I can't wait for tiny plain white onsies and kimono shirts.
And seeing my H with a little babe just about puts me over the edge. And having decent fall weather to be a new mom.

Oooh, yes, I'm so excited for teaching my kid stuff. Don't know if it's a boy or girl yet, but still. I think that's what my husband's most excited about- he's a carpenter and he's really outdoorsy so he can't wait until our kid is old enough to go camping and fishing and work in the shop and learn about his tools with him!

And it's not the worst song to have in your head! But sorry. ;)

Oh, yes! Whenever we're around kids I just love seeing my hubby interacting with them, or holding babies... eek!

I'm with you on sometimes not remembering that I won't be pregnant forever.  I've just accepted this as my reality. lol

I talk about the baby being here all the time but yes, every once in a while it really HITS me.  I'm going to have a baby and be a mother in a matter of months.  Whoa.

I just try to think about it a lot so it doesn't seem so overwhelming.  Like anything in life, I will take it one day at a time and everything will be fine. =)

I do love this board though because hearing everyone else's stories has helped make me aware of and more prepared for all possibilities!

  • I can't believe that at 7 months I'm still in shock sometimes that Dh and I are starting our family!
  • The title of this post reminded me of the other day when DS was singing the Baby Bumblebee song for like the 39th time....

Me: "Hey DS, is that song stuck in your head?"

DS: "No mommy, it's coming out of my mouth!"

    Love him Smile

Hahaha precious! Kids are too funny.
I actually looked the song up on YouTube because I couldn't remember the other verses... I knew there was something about a baby dinosaur but couldn't quite recall. I sang it all the time as a kid! That being said, am I a bad mom if I don't buy those dorky "songz for kidz" CD's? Because they are extremely cheesy and annoying. haha

Haha, I was just trying to remember the verses to this song recently.

DH and I get a personalized ornament every year and I was just asking him if this year we should do a family one or do separate ones for us and the baby. And Thanksgiving, we are planning to go to my home state to hang out with my family and there will be 3 babies under a year old and another just over a year! Crazy and exciting!

My husband is also an outdoors guy. One of his hobbies is caving and he's already wondering when he can take her with him. We have friends, that he met through college and caving, that have a daughter who is around 6 or 7 and she's a happy little caver! This is me and DH in a cave on our honeymoon in Belize

  • DH and I were just talking about this at dinner. He is a landscaper and was saying how excited he is to teach our son how to use all of the equipment and drive 4 wheelers and such. I can't wait to see DS sit on the tractor with DH!

  • Exactly!!! My family just came in town last weekend, and we painted our room and the nursery, as well as taking time to prep the rest of the house. Once that crib was up with the bedding on, it was a very surreal moment. Borrowing from a shared sentiment with a PP, it isn't that you actually think you will always be pregnant, simply that the reality of it kind of just hits you at times. Reality is too soft of a word. Enormity might be more accurate. I told my sister I am somewhere between "This is the best thing ever," and "holy #$#$&&( what have we done," at any given moment of the day. I suspect that doesn't ever fully go away, though.

I will agree, OP, that every time I walk past that crib I do a double take! What a strange, wonderful, scary, joyous, overwhelming, brilliant, insane, amazing thing this journey to mommyhood is....!

       Wishing you the best!

PS: I worked as a music specialist in a preschool for a while. We sang the bumble bee song, but then added a "washing our hands after squishing the bumble be" tag off, followed by a song about shaking our hands off to help the other teachers get that into the kids heads. It is amazing the things you find yourself singing to the kids....!
