I'm enjoying a beer in the backyard right now thanks to DH who is WAY better than me at putting DS down for naps. I just don't have the patience, especially on the weekends! Thankfully DH enjoys this job, although sometimes he gets exhausted doing it. I really don't know how I manage nap times during the week when he's at work!
What is your SO better at?
Re: What is SO better at than you?
I'm not having a bad day, but I'll put it out there. When it comes to DS, DH is better at nothing than I am. For one, he's not home to do anything. He works at night and sleeps most of the next day until his shift starts again. This week he worked six days out of seven. So I do 95% of all the parenting. Tonight he fed him a bed time bottle. That's all he's been able to do in about a month. He can't be "better" at anything, because he's not around enough to master any one thing. It's no one's fault, just the way of our life right now. But it is exhausting sometimes to fly solo so often.
I must admit, though, I felt pretty good about myself when I got her to immediately calm down, eat her bottle and sack out for the night with seemingly no effort :P
My SO also works nights and then sleeps the next day until his shift. He will come down, say hi to the babies then leave. Don't get me wrong, he is amazing with the boys and loves them so much. When he is home he is there for them, feeds them, gets up at night with them and allows me to go out for girls nights when I can but man is it exhausting when he works.
With that said he is also good at putting them down for naps!
He's not so great with the baby, but it's not his fault. LO2 just prefers to be on his food source at all times. He's awesome with LO1 though! He's much better at playing than I am! I get sick of tea parties and being the horse and hanging out in a giant box after about 5 min. DH will entertain all day long!
Also, insert mobile thumbs up!
This is my life to.. Yes flying solo is exhausting I feel like a single parent , therefore my heart truly feels for the parents that truly never ever have anyone!
First round of Clomid in May 2012= BFP #1, DD born January 2013
BFP #2 in January 2014, DS born September 2014
All this with our boy! He takes him when I ask and spends time with him. And I have to give him props this weekend. We were all at the lake and he went fishing with my dad for 6 hours. When he got back he had the opportunity to go out to do some more fishing, but stayed back at my request to spend time with his son. I know as DS grows, it will become better for them both, but right now I am on mat leave still and BFing..
He did agree with me the other day that he should change more diapers....
