When did you all have your first baby? My sister and I are both nearing our due dates and we recently heard that FTM's can easily last 42 weeks - and the average is 41 weeks! We thought we were close but now we feel so far away!
I heard the "average FTM" went into labour at 41w1d, but I just couldn't see how that makes sense based on all of the FTMs I know! Sure, some go that late, but to call that the average didn't really make sense.
My sister and I are both pregnant as well with our firsts. Her due date was the 18th of this month and she's still hanging in there. I'm not due for 5 more weeks but have a feeling ill be going over as well.
I had a preemie the first time, so I am the wrong person to ask, but most of my friends went either just before, on or well after their due date. I would expect to go at least 40 and not be shocked if you go later...the waiting game sucks though, these babies can be such little teases.
With my first I went to 42 weeks no induction . My second was ten days late and my third was three weeks two days early. You just never know. I always tell myself my due date is actually 42 weeks that way I don't get anxious . I tortured myself with my first thinking everyday would be THE day I'm not willing to do that agian.
I was induced with DD1 at 42 weeks. She came 3 days later, 42w3d.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."
- Kurt Vonnegut
Averages are found with extremes (super early and super late). I use to worry about how late or early my baby would be based on 'averages' until my dad drilled that into my head. Now I just figure it'll happen when baby decides and that averages have nothing to do with my personal experience. Not to say that it can't be right, of course, but there is also a ton of room for it being wrong.
Re: Question for STM's
Not a STM, but I found this article:

Every pregnancy is different for every person. I had to be induced with my first.
My friend had her first at 37 weeks and her second didn't come until 41 weeks.
