I'm going to start by saying I have never let LO sleep on belly at night.
Ok. Now for my question. Who, against medical advice, has let LO sleep on their tummy already?
My LO loves sleeping on his tummy during the day when I'm watching him. I know he'd sleep better at night but I'm way too scared to let him. Have any STM or FTM done this?
Any stats for or against? I still hear people with good and bad opinions of it.
ETA: Hopefully I don't receive any lectures on why I shouldn't let my baby do this. I'm just looking for personal experience.
I let my son sleep on his belly at about 3 weeks. Although he was picking his head up by then. His little sister also prefers to sleep on her belly or side. I have not let her sleep on her belly yet mostly because she sleeps ok on her back or side. There are monitors you can use that help to detect if a baby stops breathing. If that's something you want to look in to.
DD much prefers to sleep on her belly and we let her sleep that way if we're holding her on our chests, but I'm too nervous to let her do so at night or if I'm not watching closely. I really wish it wasn't dangerous, would make life easier.
I'll probably get lectured for this but I let LO sleep on my chest sometimes. We both sleep better and longer. I wake up at the slightest little stir from him so I'm not too worried about it. He still wakes up to eat every few hours so we usually alternate between on his back in the bassinet and on my chest for a bit. He loves skin to skin so if I can't get him to sleep he will always calm down and sleep like that.

Abbie spends a lot of time on her belly during the day while I have eyes on her or she's on my chest. I know she sleeps better on her belly but I'm too scared of SIDS to let her do it at night... Someone told me that if I have a fan running in the room near her bassinet that she'd be fine but we haven't tried it.

My LO takes a tummy time nap almost every day, but she's always on the bed next to me while she does it. She seems to like it better, but they beat into us that its dangerous so I'm too scared to do it at night.

I do this too.
Me too. We sleep like this in the middle of the night sometimes.

Am I the only one whose LO won't sleep on her tummy? I've tried it just to get a better nap out of her... Supervised of course. She doesn't like it and cries until I move her to her side or back. We also sleep together sometimes. She almost always starts to fuss in her sleep about 6 am so I will put her in bed beside me and we both get an extra hour or so of sleep.

She sleeps so much better on her tummy that her daytime naps, that I'm in the same room for, she is on her tummy. However if I'm going to be out of the room and also at night I start her out on her tummy, wait about 30 minutes, and flip her over on her back. She's already passed out sleeping so deep that she doesn't realize it.
I haven't yet, other than on my chest, which we do a lot. But I will when he gets a bit better at being put down and I can put him in the pack and play and not the swing or bouncer. My pedi actually told us to. He said as long as we are watching him sleep, put him on his tummy. To take some pressure off the back of the head. But at night or if I'm not watching him then back only.

I think pretty much all of us have given in and let them sleep on our chest at least once. So no judging here.

I have only done daytime naps on belly on occasion with this LO, but with DS1 he went to belly at night around 3 months old when we unswaddled him. He is 2 1/2 now and has slept on his belly ever since.

On my chest, yes. In the basinette, no, for both kids. As soon as DD started rolling over she started sleeping on her belly and has ever since, but I never put her down that way.

Same here. I'd be too stressed to fall asleep to try it further. Thankfully LO does well on his back at night.
