DD had her tongue tie clipped today at her pediatrician appointment. She cried for 2 seconds and it was done. She is so cute because she can move her tongue now. When she has been awake today she has been sticking it out and licking her lips because she couldn't before. We are working on latching again but she is really impatient. It has helped with drinking out of bottles too.
on another not she gained weight like crazy. 2 weeks ago she was 7lbs 11oz and today she was 9lbs 1 oz. and she went from 21 inches to 21 3/4 inches.
Re: DD had her tongue tie clipped..
I was hoping it would help another mom feel better about what they may be going through.
Thank you for posting this. DS may have to have this done & I've never known this to be a common problem.
He's not experiencing problems latching, but my pediatrician told us he runs a risk of speech issues later, & I'd rather have it done before it becomes an issue. I've kind of been torn on what to do.

my nephew has a speech impediment because he has a tie and a high pallet. They never realized it was a problem.
We had G's done today. It went pretty well, though holding him during it hurt my heart. He was looking at me with pretty angry eyes, lol.
Afterwards we went over to the LC's office and had his latch evaluated. She said his suck is strong, and he'll probably get used to the changes over the next few days.
We had him weighed too, and he's only .3 ounces shy of his birth weight at 11 days old!
She told me to let him do whatever he wants today and tomorrow with regards to nursing. It's been wonderful. He nurses for 12 to 14 minutes, then dozes off, and then we do it again 1-2 hours later. So much better than the 30-45 minutes followed by crying only to repeat it all again that was happening before!
Yay for everything going better for you guys!!! I am glad that bf is going better. DD still looks at me and screams everytime I try.
