Tonight my dad came over and was holding and playing with my 5monthold daughter. He started jostling her in his lap and got a little too bouncy for my comfort. She looked fine and didn't cry or get upset, and I stopped him after I realized it was too rough probably after 3 "jostles." She has very good head control for her age but her head did wobble a little with my dads play. I'm really worried this could lead to shaken baby syndrome or something. He felt really bad when he realized he was being too rough... I know it won't happen again but I'm worried about this one instance. She is acting fine abd this happened about an hour ago. My husbabd seems to think she's fine and im just worrying too much. What do you all think?
My 3 mo old accidently fell off the couch yesterday. (Oops, won't be leaving him there asleep anymore! I literally walked 5 ft away.) My DS1, DH accidently dropped into the (empty) bathtub when he squirmed. Everyone's kids do these things. My DH and I are far from neglectful parents, but accidents happen. I promise your LO is fine from a little leg bouncing.

Umm we throw our 4 month old in the air and catch him and he spends all day in his jumperoo. He loves rough play and I think it's good for them. You won't accidentally give shaken baby syndrome. :
If you're nervous just watch her head and neck control. She should be able to steady herself with the jostling at that age. We've been doing pretty rough bouncing with DD since 3 months when we discovered it makes her laugh really hard. But we keep an eye on her head because she will get droopy when she's tired, and it could shake her a little too much. Not enough for shaken baby, but just too much for my comfort.
