Babies: 0 - 3 Months

2 month vaccines

Holy cow.  My normally calm happy baby had her vaccine shots today.  This is a baby who only cries if I am not fast enough with her bottle (which seldom happens).  I have never heard her make noise like she did today.  I felt so bad and had tears in my eyes while the big mean nurse poked her.  Afterwards I had to take her back to day care. They said all she wanted to do was cuddle this afternoon and as soon as they put her down she'd start crying.  She's been asleep for almost 5 hours and last ate over 7 hours ago.  I hope anyone else getting ready for vaccines has a better time of it.  It sure sucked for us. Sad

Re: 2 month vaccines

  • My LO is due for his 2 month vaccines on the 5th. He is usually quiet unless he is hungry. I hope he does ok with them...

  • I am sorry you are going through that. My son had his shots yesterday. I didn't hold him when they did it because I didn't want him to associate me to any pain like that. Poor guy cried so hard at first, like the type of cry where you cry at first and you don't catch your breath for a long moment, then scream. But, luckily he stopped instantly the moment I picked him up, his eyes were red and tears were still coming out. I almost cried myself. =(

A few hours later he was all smiles and his normal self, except for waking up from naps initially crying. Today, I think all that is wrong is his legs are a bit sore, no more waking up crying.

I hope your little one gets better soon.

Good luck Stacy.Just took her bandaids off. More tears and the saddest little face ever. Thankfully her bottle is fixing all that. :)
  • Yeah my sweet little man had his shots today too. I have never seen him turn that shade of red. And the screams broke my heart. He calmed down pretty quickly, but all he has wanted to do this afternoon and evening is be held and breastfeed. He felt really warm also, so I gave him a bit of tylenol. At one point I put him down so I could use the bathroom and as soon as I shut the door he started panic screaming like something was attacking him. I don't know if he hit his own leg where he got a shot or he just got upset because he couldn't see me anymore. Poor guy!
  • I am so not looking forward to them!

My daughter had her 2 month shots today too!  The shot part wasn't as bad as I thought it may be.  However, when we got home that was another story.  She literally slept all day from like 9 am to after supper.  She also had a low grade fever most of the day.  When she woke up on her own, she cried hysterically and nothing would soothe her until she fell back asleep again.  And she barely ate until this evening, when she finally seemed more alert and like her normal self.

    Poor little angels!
  • My LO has his tomorrow. So not looking forward to them.
  • My LO had his shots Tuesday, I made DH come with us b/c I knew he would be getting multiple shots (I cried when he got one at his 1 month appt) I hated it. Hearing him cry/scream like that. It's such a different cry from the feed me/pick me up cry. Broke my heart!! I made DH sit with him. After I scooped him up and BF him and that calmed him down really quick. Mommy to the rescue!! lol He didn't run a fever but he slept 10+ hours that night and almost all day yesterday. Today he seems to be back to his normal self. I do not want to do this again next month!!

  • So, I took DS in for his 2 month shots last Wed. He did very well-only cried during the shots-although I think I was the one who was crying. He did run a slight fever afterwords, but I gave him a small dose of Tylenol and he was fine! I hope all the other lil ones getting their shots soon do well!
