sleep sacks

I have a few sleep sacks but I haven't used them because DD cannot sleep without being swaddled. Anytime her arms are out she jerks herself awake. She just turned 10 weeks. When does tge jerking stop?

Re: sleep sacks

  • That's fine. Keep swaddling. We swaddled till 5-6 months. I think the jerking stops around 3-4 months but mine slept so well swaddled, so we kept it going.

You can use sleep sacks after that. Mine use sleep sacks from 6-18 months.

  • I think we were three to four months out before it really stopped. It is advised to stop swaddling once they start to roll. I had an early roller, but she transitioned to a sleep sack well.

  • I think the startle reflex lasts until about 3-5 months old.  We swaddled DS1 until he was 3.5 months and DS2 until he was about 4+ months.  When they were done with swaddling, we transitioned them to Halo Sleepsack wearable blankets.

  • if you're wanting to try the sleep sack instead of the swaddle blankets, check out the Halo sleep sack for NB which is a sleep sac and swaddle in one. I LOVE it because when it's 2A and I'm exhausted the last thing I want to do is try to remember how to successfully get my NB into the a swaddle without waking her up.
