Effects of 1st round of immunizations

What effects, if any, did you notice in your LO after their 2 month immunizations? LO got her 1st round yesterday and was fine last night and this morning, but has gotten really fussy this afternoon/evening and nursed around the clock since about 2pm. She also struggled to go to sleep tonight and has definitely not had a problem with that lately. She didn't get much in terms of naps this afternoon, so she could def be overtired, but I'm just wondering if anyone else had similar effects after the shots. Thanks!

  • The 2 month shots were awful for my DD. She was worse the second day too. It was only that second day though then she went back to normal. The 4 month shots were WAY easier.

  • My LO usually gets really tired for a day or so after his shots, but I have heard of more instances like yours.  Any effects I've seen or heard of usually pass by the second day.  They are no fun for anyone!

Why do we fill our kids with this crap?  I know I know.. the government says it is for the good of them and society but is it really?   Would you take stuff that made you sick or feel crappy?

I am really up in the air about all these shots.

It isn't the government who says/proves shots are beneficial...  I am Anti-Gov as well but I know better than to let my son be exposed to harmful diseases which I could have protected him from.

Listen to the previous poster above, and perhaps take a biology course to learn more about this topic. The side effects from the shots do not last long and they are the cause of bombarding the immune system with a lot of different diseases, so the body has to work overtime to create the immunity from it, thus making you feel ill and possibly run a fever.. it sounds harsh, but that is the amazing thing about human immune systems.. they grow and adapt to it and make you a stronger person in the end. Just like playing in dirt a bit... just like every time you've gotten sick, your immune system adapted and grew because of it.

  • I fully understand the good and bad of vaccinations... just wish we didn't have to give them to our precious babies.

I would NEVER want my baby to get any disease or to pass it on.   My oldest son (23) and daughter (10) both had all their shots and are fine.  My son did have a bad reaction to one of his shots but he was fine.

  • Our LO slept for 3 hours then screamed like we were ripping his limbs off (and he never cries!) until we gave him Tylenol. He was sleepy the rest of the day/night and just a bit clingy the next day.

  • Also, as a physician, it totally sucks and I want to slap parents when you take care of a critically ill baby who has a vaccine-preventable disease. Sorry, seems harsh but people who choose not to vaccinate tend to be ignorant and woefully misinformed.... flame away!

I am really up in the air about all these shots.

Yes, I take stuff that makes me feel crappy all the time. Antibiotics give me diarrhea but I don't want to die from an infection.  Medrol made me want to jump out of my skin, but it was necssary. My mom is on long term high dose steroids, about the crappiest medicine there is, but she would die without them. I work with cancer patients, whose medications could kill them, but they take them because the benefit outweighs the risk.

If it takes a fever and some fussiness to protect my son and other children around him from life threatening diseases (that, although uncommon are only uncommon BECAUSE of immunizations) then so be it.

I agree completely. Even if your child is fine from getting the completely preventable disease, the child in his or her class who is immunocompromised and CAN'T receive vaccinations will die or have severe complications only because your child infected them, for no other reason than you're a selfish, uneducated twit. And this comes from a mom who just dealt with a 101 degree fever and projectile vomiting after my son's 2 months shots.

  • Jake had his a couple of weeks ago. He didn't have any of the bad stuff I've heard about- fussiness, fever, etc. He actually slept all afternoon, which was just fine with me!
