For Moms who have their LOs in day care in a sitter's home.
My sitter happens to be my neighbor and I don't really have any problems with her as a day car provider, my bigger issue is with one of the other mothers, and the fact that she brings he kid sick to DC ALL THE TIME! And that my sitter takes him. I am seriously considering sending this mom DSs medical bills b/c her son is always getting him sick.
This time it might be pink eye. I might also send her a bill for the time I have to take off of work---UURRRGGG! I get that she is a teacher and doesn't have a lot of days off work, but why should the other kids and parents have to suffer b/c of that?
Any other mom's have this issue? how did you handle it? I am so mad right now, I know I am not thinking clearly!

Does she have a sick policy? She really should.
My kids are at a DC center. They have a very set policy on illness. Children with a fever over 101 will be sent home, they must be fever free for 24hrs to return. If they vomit twice they are sent home. Any contagious illnesses such as pinkeye, lice, etc. are sent home. My kids still got sick all the time in the beginning, but its not as often now that they have been there are few months.
I would ask your DCP what her exact illness policy is. Tell her that if it is not being followed, you are considering pulling your children out. That may get her to crack down on other parents.
I'd be more mad at the sitter for taking the kid.
This. I mean your LO will get sick somewhat from being w/other children, even if the policies are pretty strict, and a lot of viruses are contagious before you even know your LO is sick, but once they have a fever or something like strep or pink eye they need to stay home until they are better and/or no longer contagious.
If your DC has no policy on this then talk to your provider and/or find a new DC.

For everyone's sake, DCP should have a policy.
As for the other mother....teachers - or any other professionals for that matter -should never get special treatment.
I am a teacher. I have sub plans I can tweak for any day of the week. Copies of worksheets are already made and otherwise everything can be put together for a substitute in an hour if necessary.
It is really hard for a teacher to break away in the middle of the day. Say DD is running a 100 + fever. That's when....drumroll please....DH gets called. He can leave work more easily than me most of the time.
A sick policy should be in place and EVERYONE should adhere to it.
I kind of hear you on this, but pink eye is a different category IMHO. I mean, that's really quite contagious and I don't know any DC that will take a kid with pink eye. I wouldn't want to take care of someone else's kid (even my nephew or niece) if they had pink eye.
