Well... it looks like my "uneventful" pregnancy status has finally changed. The doctor has put me on bed rest for at least the weekend due to lots of contractions/cramping. The doc wasn't worried because my body doesn't show any signs of going into labor, however she wants me to drink lots of fluids and be on bed rest for a few days to see if the contractions/cramping slows down. They did do a culture to test to see if I have the possibility of pre-term labor, she said if the test came back negative that shows that you won't go into labor for at least 2 weeks, but if it comes back positive there's a chance you could go into labor within 2 weeks (the test doesn't show the percentage though, she said positive could be anywhere from 20% to an 80% chance). Well the doctor just called me back and said the test was positive and to keep an eye on things and if it doesn't slow down by monday they'll definitely want to see me again, and if it gets worse to call. They checked me cervix and i was still not at all dilated or effaced, but it's hard not to worry a bit... i have all of the "signs" of pre-term labor when it comes to symptoms to call the doc (very frequent BH, menstrual cramping, lower backache)... I'm just praying baby boy stays put for a few more weeks!

I hope everything's ok! Sorry about the bed rest. (Though, as tired as I am now, bedrest sound really lovely).
FWIW, a friend of mine delivered her son 8 weeks early and he was just fine. He was in the NICU for one night I think. But I hope yours keeps baking for a bit!

Thanks! I have to admit i've been looking up stories of babies born at 33+ weeks and it's reassuring to know that he would probably be fine if he does decide to come soon.

Oh no! I hope he decides to stay put for at least a few more weeks. FWIW my BIL was a 32 week preemie. He's now 25 years old, perfectly fine, and trust me he's made up for it in size.

My pregnancy became eventful last Monday when I started having contractions. I was hooked up to the monitor twice last week and both days showed contractions although they obviously weren't labor inducing ones. I'm 0.5 cm dilated and 50% effaced but my culture test came back negative. My doc has told me to take it easy. Good luck.
