I wanted to make a clicky poll but the damn tab won't let me click on it..grrr.
Anyway, what were you ladies told about working out while PgAL? I had a follow up appointment today and I had hoped to clear up the 'do's and don'ts' with my doctor but I'm giving him the side-eye now.
He informed me that exercise does not cause m/c but I'm not to workout -at all- until 2nd tri because of the psychological effect it would have on me if I lost this baby. He doesn't want to me blame myself.
W.T.F.
If it's not safe, that's fine but I wasn't there for a psych evaluation. So what have your qualified professionals told you ladies?
Re: Exercise: What did your doc recommend?
that is horse poo
my doctor encourages exercise. he doesn't want me to go out and do crossfit and run a marathon, but he says that med-light cardio, light weights, etc. is good. I think he said to try to keep my heartrate under 120 and I'm good.

I realize I didn't answer your question....my doctor encourages my exercise, nothing too hard or two long but an hour of running per day is fine by her. She says it keeps my weight down, my blood pressure down and will hopefully allow for easy delivery and recovery. All good things.

No, no, you did. Thank you.
I've been a gym rat for a long time and it really messes with my head when I can't go. I actually stopped going once I got this BFP and I was waiting to make sure things were okay before I went back. I wasn't expecting to be benched for another six weeks because of my brain.
All the input is super helpful ladies, thanks.

My OB said almost the opposite of what yours told you.
With my 2nd loss, I was doing a 150 mile charity bike ride during the 2ww and always had in the back of my head that it caused the baby not to develop. This pregnancy, my OB said keep up with my normal workout routine, as long as I felt comfortable. (I was doing zumba & hiphop cardio once a week, light cardio & free weights 2-3 times a week) She thought the exercise would be a healthy way to keep my mind occupied and be a positive outlet for any stress/anxiety I was feeling about the pregnancy.
She also said there was absolutely, positively no way that my bike ride caused the miscarriage.
With all that being said, I was too paranoid (and then eventually too friggen sick) to keep up with my workouts.
I like my OB's approach to most of my paranoia; do what you feel comfortable with. Your body will let you know if you are overdoing something.
P.S. I love any excuse to share cute baby otter PIPs with you.
These were my thoughts exactly. I do high intensity, high impact workouts which I completely planned to reduce to something low-impact and moderate. It seemed reasonable to me but now I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to disregard my doctors orders but I think he's out of line and he put more stress on me that I didn't really need.

I should clarify - It was 150 miles in 2 days, so 75 miles each day. And there were rest stops every 10-15 miles. And my azz nearly did fall off.
And now I want to bottle feed a baby otter!

With my DD, my OB did not allow me to have sex or exercise in the first tri, as I had two previous m/cs and she considered me high risk. I have a different OB now, who I am sure would tell me exercise is fine, but she also considers my first 2 m/cs to be "wiped out" since I had a live birth before the third m/c.

I was told no exercise. I was told I could "walk", but apparently their idea of walking and mine did not mesh (she was horrified I was walking the dog daily....OUTSIDE! Apparently she meant only on a treadmill).
I was cleared to do a bit of exercise at about 25 weeks. I still can't run or go to zumba or ride my bike but I can do exercises without feeling guilty.

Gosh I wish I heard some of this stuff a few months ago! I'm the same way, I'm not right if I can't workout and I've always been a high intensity and high impact girl. I lift heavy too. I was told to cont to workout but decrease the impact. So I haven't done much impact for the past 15 weeks and I miss it. Thank goodness for cathe Fredrick's low impact series. I'm worried that I'm going to have a hard time getting back to impact when the baby comes.
I was trying to continue to lift, but I too was having a hard time with dizziness, so now I'm doing more muscular endurance with lower weight and higher reps.
I'm not planning on making any fitness gains while pg, but i want to get back to my Pre pg fitness levels quickly after baby comes!
Anyway, hope everyone is finding their fitness groove!
