Medela Tubing??

Recently pulled out the PISA. Went to Target and bought a box with new accessories... It doesn't come with tubing though! I threw my old tubing out because it was about 7 years old!

Looked at BRU. Didn't see any tubing.... Anyone have any tips on where to look?

i know that if I wait and tell them at the hospital that I want to pump, they will bring me the Medela hook ups including tubing... But I was just trying to be all prepared before then!

Re: Medela Tubing??

  • I googled "where to buy Medela tubing" and found their website.

  • I got mine at Amazon as well.

  • Someone told me if you call the company they will send you some. I think she said you just have to pay shipping or it's free or something. This could be completely inaccurate, but I feel it's worth giving customer service a call! GL

  • I've been looking for the same thing since mine is a hand me down from sister who used it for maybe a month. Amazon has one posting for them, but they aren't by Madela so I'm a little hesitant to purchase. BRU has them for the symphony and I head you can detactch the rounded part to use for the PIS. I'm going to ask our lactation specialist before I purchase them myself, but I'm not sure what you can do for an easy fix so you can take to the hospital...

    Thanks for this!!
  • Actual Medela tubing from their website.  Knock off tubing that works in their pumps from Amazon.

  • I did the same thing - how annoying is that? It seems like a basic component of replacement parts would include tubing. I got mine on Amazon, as well.

  • Thanks, y'all!

Just an FYI, the reason you won't find "THEIR" tubing for sale anywhere but thru them is because their pumps are single use pumps. They should never be shared from mother to mother. The pump is an open system, which means dried milk/bacteria can get into the motor and to your baby.

That's true, but not at all relevant. Everyone needs new replacement tubes sometimes, not just for a new user.

Yes, it is relevant, because I was just pointing out that it wouldn't be found in stores. Yes, everyone needs new tubing at some point, but then you just call the manufacturer for it. And it must be registered, or you run the risk of the company not sending you the tubing that you need.

I got Medela tubing from a store near me, never registered my pump. Wink

I'm still confused by this. I get what they are saying, but then wouldn't it be a hazard for anyone to use their pump? If you got an infection, you have to go buy a new pump since you can't sterilize everything? How does that make sense. And even from one child to the next, it wouldn't be safe.

I feel like it's a marketing scam to scare you into buying a brand new pump. I know I don't have anything to back that up. It's just my gut feeling.

This is what my ped and ob said. They said that if it was a hand me down from years of use or more than one user to reconsider, but the bacteria that could be in the motor isn't going to be transferred to breast milk. They said it's been a scare tactic of companies that make pumps to get you to purchase a new one. My sis received it from state assistance and had issues with my nephew's tummy so she hardly used it for a month before switching to formula.
  • I am using a hand my down pump that I was given. I used it with DD and had no issues, and I will be using it for this baby as well. I ordered new Medela tubing from Amazon and it came yesterday!
