2nd tri post got me thinking...You will be STARVING once you give birth and move into Mother Baby room. Last time family brought in pizza (I gave birth at 3pm and by the time I was all ready to go and in my new room.... that was the only thing we could get other then fast food ..... yuk! And hospital food is just as bad. This time I am thinking of planning better, like having a pre-made lasagna (or have MIL make it) with garlic bread and yummy salad (and yes, even if it is early in the AM.... you will be THAT hungry!!!)! And then when the family comes to see LO they will bring in the food at the same time....
What sounds good for your 1st meal?
Re: After birth 1st meal
I don't even remember what I had.... Hmmm....
My hospital food was great though. Breakfast was the best. I also had dh bring me many many turkey subs. Luckily there was a place right across the street. It was delicious!
I was starving after giving birth to my DD! She was born after 11 pm though, and we lived in a small town so there was nothing for me to eat until breakfast, talk about hungry! One of my biggest complaints about the hospital was that there
By time they moved me up to my room, it was about 11pm, so no dinner but the nurse went and found me a couple rolls with butter. Darned if they weren't the best thing I'd eaten in days.
The next day, I sent DH across the street for lobster
I gave birth right after dinner time at the hospital and my nurse saved me some dinner which was Penne ala Vodka and salad. She nuked it for my when all was said and done. She let me eat in delivery room before they took me up to maternity
I plan on bringing some snacks (granola bars etc..) just in case. Our hospital food isn't bad. Dh's grandpa used to take him to eat there as a kid ( he lived 2 blocks away).
if not there are enough restaurants that will be open late

I remember really wanting sushi afterwards and when I finally had it, it was a huge let down. My taste buds changed so much during pregnancy and it took a bit t

I delivered my son (stillbirth) so I had no time to prepare as it was unexpected. I was finally cleared to eat at 3 am and I was starving! Dh went to the cafeteria to find whatever he could. It was not the best but it was good enough.

I don't remember if I was allowed to eat after my c-section. I was begging for water in the recovery area, but they would only let me have a little ice. Just enough to really wet my mouth.

With DD2 I wasn't hungry at all. The nurse did bring me lunch after a couple hours and it was pretty good. I forgot what it was.
