Baby Led Vomiting?

So I've been reading about how other S12 ladies are giving their LOs meat and such and I thought I'd be a little adventurous tonight. DD had only had purees so far and has done very well with those. So I cooked up some carrots and diced them into small pieces for her to feed herself tonight.

She fed herself one piece of carrot and vomited. Her entire stomach contents. I gave her some puree and a few yogurt melts and she was fine. She ate another piece of carrot and vomited again. Ugh. I'm thinking this isn't normal. Is she just not ready for chunky food yet?

My boy did that with sweet potatoes at first. Anything else he was fine, but the minute those sweet potatoes hit his tongue he threw up. I figured it was the taste and waited a bit and now he eats them no problem.

Was it real vomiting or more like gagging/spitting up?

If you want to try again, you might try giving a steamed carrot stick (or a stick of something else). Pieces are sorta tricky because babies have to stick their fingers in their mouth and the

Thanks for the help! I probably should have added that DD has had a sensitive stomach from day 1. We had a lot of trouble BFing. She's only been able to drink my frozen stash for the past month.
