Has anything helped baby's colic??

My daughter seems so unhappy and miserable most of the day.  I was worried last week and took her to her doctor and he diagnosed her with colic.  We have tried gas drops, gripe water, swaddling, shooshing, swaying, walking, rocking, white noise....nothing seems to help her.  Is there anything different that anyone has experienced some relief for their little ones from?  I feel so helpless and discouraged not knowing how to help my poor screaming baby.

  • NOTHING helped with DD1. She quit crying constantly at 6 months.

With this dd, all it took was a change of formula. She completely changed when we went from Enfamil newborn to Gentlease.

This for us too.  Switched to Gentlease and we make sure to feed her sitting a bit more upright and I hold her upright for 10 - 20 mins after burping her.  We found out that LO has silent reflux so that was probably why she was so fussy especially during/after eating.  She wasn't crying tons, but it is definitely much less since switching formulas and knowing about her reflux.

  • I am pumping breastmilk and feeding her from bottles.  My husband was wondering if we shouldn't try formula...he thought maybe there was something that didn't agree with her in my diet/breastmilk.  I'm wondering if it's worth a shot....I feel so helpless and don't know what to do.  The doctor pretty much said to wait it out.  He didn't seem to think it was my milk causing her discomfort, but I'm really not sure.

I did this with DS#1, it didn't help. We tried formula for a few days but he wasn't any better.

I'm thinking I'm just going to have to wait it out like the doctor said.  I hate that my baby seems so miserable and there's nothing I can figure out to help.  I don't want to give her formula and make it worse....this stinks!

  • I am reading The Happiest Baby On The Block right now...my baby isn't colicky but we're trying the technique when she gets fussy in the evenings sometimes and it seems to work. you can google it or look it up on you tube, it's worth a shot! Hope you get some relief soon.

Thank you!  I am going to check that out now...while I have a minute during her nap she finally decided to take.  I'm willing to try anything to help my little girl feel better and be happy!

  • My friend took her baby to the chiropractor and she has been great now

My friend whose baby would not stop crying tried this based on a baby specialist's recommendation (they took her to multiple pediatricians for it...and tried everything) and it actually worked and the baby calmed down. The specialist told her that since she has tried everything she should give formula a try even though she really didn't want it and it actually calmed the baby down so maybe there was something in her breastmilk that didn't agree with the baby's stomach? She was devastated and sad but the changes were like day and night so she came to terms with it eventually.

We're not there yet, but we have seriously thought about giving it a try even though it took me weeks to get a hang of this breastfeeding business...

  • I feel for you! It may be an allergen you're eating if you're bf... My daughter is intolerant o gluten so wI stopped eating that and it's definitely helping already. Other common intolerances are lactose, peanuts and corn... I know this sounds like voodoo, but if you want to do a quick test to see if this could be it, sit while holding your baby, then put you middle finger and thumb together and ask your partner to sepeate them while you try to keep them together. Then put a bottle of water on you baby's stomach and ask him to do it again. The replace the water with a loaf of bread and repeat. Ou can do this test with a bunch of different allergens (corn on the cob or kernels in a baggy, a small milk bottle, etc.). If you can keep ypur fingers together, then it's safe to eat the food. If you can't keep your fingers together: you've uncovered the food intolerance.

Belive me, I know it sounds waaay off, but it works!! Besides, what have you got to lose? At e very least, you'll have a laugh at my expense, but I doubt it! :) Good luck!

  • I discovered this baby bouncer that works wonders: https://babytechs.blogspot.co.uk/p/best-baby-bouncer.html
My husband and I had previously been taking our daughter for car rides in the evenings because it calmed her down. This bouncer has a "car ride" setting that has the same calming effect without the hassle of strapping into car seats during a crying fit :).
  • For us, changing diet worked. DD threw up every bit of colostrum and breast milk she got from me, so we tried Enfamil newborn.  Then we found blood in her stool, so we switched her to soy. She would scream for hours on soy, had terrible gas and constipation, nothing would help. We finally switched her to Nutramigen, and she is like a new baby. The formula is extremely expensive, so I've been working with insurance to get it covered.

It took us 2 months to figure it all out. Good luck!!
