What is the general consensus on giving LO juice?

DS was constipated a few weeks ago and our pedi suggested offering him apple juice. He?s no longer constipated, but now he won?t drink anything besides apple juice (we use baby apple juice and dilute it 1/4 juice to 3/4 water) and milk. He refuses water.

Can too much juice be harmful? DS will drink 2 to 3 sippy cups of diluted juice a day.

    I rarely offer DS juice.  I tried giving it to him while switching over to the sippy but he didnt care for it.  Should i be giving him at least a little everyday?

    My peds general rule is no juice. Way too sugary, empty calories and not good for the teeth. But, he said if actual fruits don't cut it for a constipation issue, watered down juice is fine to help. If you don't want him drinking it, wean him from it.

    He won't have juice for at least another year if not longer. Just because there are worse things he could be drinking doesn't mean I want to give him something that really serves no purpose. If milk didn't have the calories, protein, and fat that he needs
