K so dd is 12 mos, and we are going to get a new car seat this w/e but something just occurred to me. Now that we are ditching the newborn bucket carseat that can clip in and out, more importantly clip into a grocery cart, I've all of a sudden realized we won't be able to do that anymore. Lol! Clearly I'm a bit of a germie and the thought of putting dd in the seat of a nasty germ infested cart gives me the creeps. I know you can buy those shopping cart covers but do they work?
Wipes to clean the cart (I use baby wipes squirted with hand sanitizer... :-s) and something for her to hold/chew on. I am still giving DD her paci when in the store to keep her hands out of her mouth, and sometimes give her my list or something we are bu
I don't use cart covers. They're going to be exposed to everything anyway. And so you don't feel bad, I always put the carseat on the cart too. Never knew it was "incredibly dangerous" and I'll probably do it with my next kid too.

I use one, and I mean, I suppose it "works". I am super freaked out about grocery store germs though, so it gives me some peace of mind.9 times out of 10 when I see a baby in the store they are shopping-cart-cover-free.
I tried the shopping carts covers because I'm a clean freak and I didn't want my DD to be in touch directly with the shopping cart hehe but in the real world I found the cover to be more of a pain and unpractical than actual help in protect my baby, my DD
I have an Eddie bauer one that ties to the cart that I love and so does DD. It keeps everything germ free and its nice and soft for her butt and back. I always use it.
Since you've already received the warnings about putting the car seat on top of the grocery cart, I will at least offer my suggestion for a seat cover.
I have one by Balboa Baby, bought it from BRU. I used it until DD was about 15 months. It

I used covers for a few months and then stopped. They weren't really a hassle - I would put the cover on the cart before taking the girls out of the car so there wasn't any juggling on babies involved. I just threw them in the trunk when we

Honestly, I don't even bother with a cover. Most places have antibacterial wipes if you want to wipe down the cart before you put the baby in. We haven't had any problems and we don't use a shopping cart cover. We started putting her in the shopping cart

We use the shopping cart covers. We use it for restaurant high chairs and the shopping carts. You have to wash them, so that can be annoying, but I think worth it. Those things (carts and public high chairs) are germy.
K I realize it would be unsafe to literally be clipping the seat into the top of the cart but the carts we have are two levels. The first level is a bit smaller than the lower and shallow, the seat fits perfectly and I don't see how doing this could cause
I'm shocked you could keep your LO in the infant seat so long. We had to move DS to a convertible at 6.5 months because he would just cry everytime we put him in it. Anyways, we have a cart cover, we hardly use anymore. I just wipe down the cart with the

I used to manage a grocery store. Even with scheduled monthly cart cleaning, carts are disgusting. I use a cart cover whenever possible. Also, it actually helps me bc when I give her snacks or something for her to play with, the cover ke

We have one by bright starts and I always, always use it. I also hate the idea of germs. It also helps keep all his stuff with him and not fall out of the cart (books, sippy cups, etc). Another bonus, if he eats a snack the crumbs can just be brushed off
I use a shopping cart cover. I am a little protective about germs since lo has asthma and when he gets sick he is sick for a long time. Yep he goes to dc but why would I expose him to unnecessary germs? I don't always wash inbetween trips but I leave i

I use mine every now and then (more when she was younger). I just washed it when it got dirty or every other week or so. Now, she barely sits still in the cart, so I end up putting her in the big part to stand/sit/etc, so she doesn't jump out the top.

Re: Shopping carts
I don't use a shopping cart cover. I have one, but it never stays in place well and annoys me.
Re: clipping onto the top. The fact that some seats "click" in is a coincidence. In addition to making the cart top heavy and more likely to fall over
