FTM Q: Letting little one spend the night

This could be a STM+ Q too.

At what age do you think you will let your LO spend the night somewhere? This would be out of the blue (not because you were going somewhere and had to).

I only ask because MIL keeps bugging me to let Audrey and I am just not ready. Plus, they live 10m away, we see them frequently, they can come over whenever and DH and I arent going anywhere overnight.

She has asked/hinted probably 10x now.

Hmmm, several reasons I lean towards NEVER for both MY parents and DH's parents.

1. Both MIL and my Stepmom smoke.

2. My dad is 80+ and step mom is 75. They are both nearly deaf and blind as bats.

FIL is the one always bugging me about it. I think MIL knows I wouldn't be okay with it. Plus she's the one that would be up with Hallie during the night. FIL would sleep through it.

When baby H is 6 months we will be leaving him with IL's while at a wedding. We have a wedding a few weeks before that that I bet DH might suggest doing the overnight with the grandparents again, but I don't think I'd want to do twice so close together.

I don't know the answer, but I know I'm definitely not ready to leave LO overnight. And probably won't be anytime soon. If it doesn't feel right and you're not ready, don't give in. She's your daughter and in the end you know what's best

We are super close with our parents (emotionally and physically... they both live within 15 minutes of us). In fact, each set of grandparents watch her 1 day per week.

We let LO stay with her grandparents on New Years Eve, when she was about 2 months. They offered and it was great to, you know, put makeup on and brush myhair lol. Oh and get out of the house.

Do it!

DD stays at my parent's house once a week, either during the week or over the weekend. It is great for all.

1. Good for DD: This way when the time comes and we need her to stay overnight somewhere, she will not freak out
