Lightening crotch question

So I lurk a lot here sometimes so I know it's a term many of you are familiar with. I too, have experienced this phenomenon known as lightening crotch.

 

my question is, does anyone know what the medical explanation for this is? I keep meaning to ask my OB about it but always forget.

    Baby is beating your cervix.

    It can also be from braxton hicks or pulling a muscle.

    Well to me most of the time it feels like someone suddenly kicked me in the vagina, sometimes with a shock. It feels like it's on the outside rather than inside.

    What is that? Sorry this is my first pregnancy and I have never heard of that.

    My OB said it's RLP as these go all the way down into the vag.

    I have this kicked in the crotch feeling when I'm walking or standing long. I asked my OB at my last appointment if there's anything I can do for it. This is my 2nd baby and I didn't have it with my DD.  The Dr said there's nothing you can do except lay down more often. Its caused by gravity and it gets worse by the more babies you have.
