Hi - hubby and I are trying to wean our 5.5-month old off her swaddle. She's been sleeping with it since the day we brought her home from the hospital. She uses the "Miracle Blanket" where each arm is "securely" tucked on her sides. She's been a good sleeper with it but is outgrowing it fast. She's a pretty big girl for a 5-month old.
This weekend when we tried weaning her off of it, she did good the first night but woke up 3 times the last 2 nights. I'm wondering if it's because we did it to her "cold turkey?" I've read about doing one arm/leg at a time until they get used to it. Any other advice?
Re: Weaning baby off swaddle
O would be struggling to get his arms out, and if we swaddled him at night, we'd find him with at least one arm out in the morning. I'd maybe start it by loosening it up a bit, see if she starts to move her arms around. You could gradually loosen it up, so it's not too big a change at once.
Now we put O in a long sleeve onesie and a fleece sleepsack at night.
Good luck!

Our cold turkey was miserable!!! We ordered a zipadeezip and it's actually worked very well. He struggled a bit in the beginning because he's still so tiny and his moro reflex was still so strong, but he's been using it for all of his naps and I think there's something to it. It restricts their arm movement, but still gives them a bit of freedom. Check it out if interested.

This is what we did with DD and plan to do with DS.
Wow, id kill to have my baby only waking 3 times a night right now. LOL. Shes fully swaddled...even having one arm out, she freaks out to no end. I can't even fathom getting her out of this
