Insomnia anyone?

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I've been experiencing many more sleepless nights then I'd like.  I usually fall asleep okay, and then wake up and cannot fall back asleep.  Has anyone found anything that's helped?

Re: Insomnia anyone?

  • I've been dealing with this for weeks! I find taking a warm bath helps me! My OB said to take 2 benadryls but for now the bath is relaxing

  • My doc has said I can take Benedryl or Tylenol PM. Benedryl leaves me feeling drowsy the day after so I opt for Tylenol PM. I still wake up to pee but I am able to stay asleep long enough to get a little more sleep than without Tylenol PM.

  • I have take unisom every night to get any sleep- I can't fall asleep b/c I am so uncomfortable and then once I am asleep I wake up a ton even with the unisom but it does help me fall back asleep amidst the tossing and turning vs. tossing and turning and not being able to fall back asleep.

  • Raises hand! Oh it's awful. Id love to know what works too! I take Unisom already but for nausea still. I think I managed about 2 to 3 hrs total of sleep last night...but wait I'm in the hospital. On a good night at home I can manage about 5 to 6 hours total sleep. Guess it's perfect practice for when baby arrives!

  • Same problem here. I fall asleep fine but wake up around 4:30 and can't go back to sleep. It's terrible because I'm still working!

This!  It relaxes me and my muscles!

  • Tylenol PM. Doc said it was ok.

  • Benadryl.   I take it 30 minutes before bed, I fall asleep fast and rarely wake until DS calls for me at 6:30am.  It was pretty brutal prior to starting the benadryl.

  • For those of you taking Unisom, how much do you take? Has it been approved by your OB?  I took it in the first tri for nausea and then my OB encouraged me to try to stop if possible.
  • Yoga in the evening and a filling snack before bed (my go to is peanut butter and banana on wheat). Also, I find if I take a nap or go to bed early I sleep worse than if I just stay up till 11.

  • Same here!! Averaging about 3 hours a day of sleep most of time I'm trying to get comfortable enough to try to fall asleep.

  • I downloaded a hypnobabies track called "peaceful sleep now."  When I really can't sleep, I listen to that.  It's not as effective now that I'm getting up like 5 times a night to pee, but it was definitely helping me relax and stop my mind from racing.
