Anyone have good tips for cleaning off the goop from the belly button AFTER the cord stump falls off? We have just been dry wiping with a Q-tip every day. TIA!
We were told warm soapy water on a cotton ball or soft wash cloth. They told us not to agitate it too much but a soft wipe down would be fine to help it fully heal.

I didn't do anything to it - just let the air dry it up. Very soon it became a scab and then fell off like the stump. Now my baby has the cutest belly button!
LO's stump fell off and we just gently wiped it with a wet cotton ball. A few days later we noticed dried blood/light bleeding and got worried. Pediatrician said to just wipe with alcohol on a cotton ball 3x a day and it's healed nicely.

We have been doing a wet Q-tip and then a dry one just like before the cord fell off. That is what the nurses in OB suggested we did.
