Our live-in niece, who is almost like our daughter, is named Calista. She's 10, and I don't think we've met another Calista. I love her name. I think it's very pretty and feminine, easy to spell/pronounce, traditional but not overused. She doesn't have a nickname; we call her by her name. Go for it!

I loooooooooved it and was convinced that was the name for DD2.
DH was not a fan. Never could really say why (although now that we are naming a DS and he is really stuck on names that start with C (DH's name starts with a C), I'm wondering if he was trying to "save" the C name for a boy.
I'm chiming in late, but I love it too! We just named DD#2 Kalista (the Greek spelling since there is no C in the Greek language). We call her Kali sometimes but mostly we just use her whole name since we love it so much.
It does mean 'most beautiful' but there's also a really cool mythology story behind it:

I think Flokhart too but it isn't really a negative association for me, I really liked that show back in the day.
This isn't why I like the name though.
It just seems off beat but classic to me.
Anyway we will see how long this one lasts as my fav.
