July 2011 Moms

Name lisamoe's baby!

Quick! Because she's not here to nix any picks atm.

She's team green! She likes "Americanized Irish" names, but it's our party so we can ignore her rules!

I'm gonna say

Matteo for a boy- Is this Irish? Probs not. but it's kind of cute right?

And Daphne for a girl. awww! baby Daphne!

  • Fine, you guys had to get all real with your suggestions...

    How about, Lucas and Hannah?

eta: neither of these are Irish, I thought they sounded good with Andrew.

  • And for more serious suggestions (although I do like my family's names), I'm going to say Katherine (Katie) or Evan.

  • I am loving Daphne! And for a boy, I am going with Evan, because that is DH's name and he has a brother named Andrew.
  • Not Irish, I would say Elliot or David, and Abigail or Julia.

Irish, I would say Kieran or Sean, and Mairead or Erin.

You like how I snuck 8 guesses in there?

  • Elliot isn't Irish?

Ohh, I like Julia! And Sean. And Mairead. And Erin. Oh heck, I like them all actually! You did a good job!

  • Elizabeth was going to be my girls name since I was like 5

  • I apparently don't make girls so I will share my girl name of Juliet (or Juliette) or Julia (as mentioned above, but special to me because it was my great-grandmothers name who was the boat Irish). My boy name is Felix (vetoed by SO).

  • I do love Evan, Abigail and Julia! Definitely on the list now.

The names don't have to be Irish- but I do like them.  What do you guys think of Colin?  Does it look too much like colon?  Would you spell with one or 2 "L's"?  I also kinda like Caleb (not sure if irish or not)

    You ladies are fabulous!

And thanks Mrs C for this enlightening post, you're the best!

Lol no problem miss.  Who doesn't love a good baby naming party?!

I love Colin, with just one L and no it def doesn't sound too much like colon. I think most of the human population would differentiate without a problem.

Also love Caleb, that's a great, strong name!

  • I like Colin! I went to school with a guy who spelled it that way... that may actually be the only way I've seen it spelled, now that I think about it.

For a girl, I love my niece's name, Caitlin. She goes by Caity, which I somehow like 23840578 times better than Katie. Apparently the real Irish/Gaelic pronunciation of it would be Kathleen, but everybody seems to use the Americanized pronunciation. Erin and Megan are other nice ones, although I find them both a little bland.

I really like Colin (with one L). Mason and Cole were both almost Caleb. I even bought wooden letters for over the crib spelling Caleb. SO preferred Mason for #1, and for #2 I just didn't want another remotely popular name.
