I've been sitting up in bed for the past 3 hours coughing and burpin away. This is the worst episode of heartburn yet!! I've taken like 6 tums with no relief. I have no advice, just wanted to let you know your not alone.
I had wicked bad heartburn for a while. Tried tums, vinegar, diet changes , no luck. Tried max strength Pepcid AC, that helped only temporarily. I found that the pressure of my bra around my upper stomach was causing my heartburn. I bought a pack of bra extenders to make the bottom band of my bras loose and I've been heartburn free for a month.
I have no advice, just wanted to say I am having the worst heartburn I've ever had too. I'm taking tums left and right and have been avoiding acidic food but no help. It really sucks. I was planning to talk to my OB on monday about it..
Yes! I take Zantac and then if a few hours later it comes back then I pop a tums. Try sleeping propped up. Also if you feel you are getting heartburn don't drink water until after you take something. Water can make your heartburn seem worse.
Yes! Never had heartburn before being pregnant and it's the worst! My OB gave me an RX for prevacid but I believe it's available OTC and it works wonders
My dad has been using it for heartburn for years. A few years back I tried a teaspoon and it never helped me so I didn't try it again. In the fall I was having severe heartburn and Tums Smoothies wouldn't touch it. We live in a small town where everything closes super early so I couldn't run out to buy Zantac or anything else. I tried a tablespoon of vinegar. It didn't really help. I tried another. That did the trick!
I've had to take 2 tbsp. of vinegar at a time, 3 times since and it has worked every time. I'm glad that it does because I'd prefer to use something natural over meds.

My OB told me to take Prilosec every day. After 4 days I was a new person!! I didn't have heartburn but I had terrible acid reflux that was giving me severe nausea and vomiting. The Prilosec will cute the heartburn the same since that is just a symptom of reflux. And it's perfectly safe! He said it works much better than Pepcid or tums.

This. We tried everything and failed and I was losing weight so my MFM said no more and put me on Prilosec OTC.
Me too. A natural remedy that doesn't stop it altogether but is a big help is just a small handful of raw unsalted almonds. There's an oil in them that supposedly causes some muscle to contact and relieve reflux.
Tums do nothing for me - I haven't tried Zantac while pregs - but munching on almonds seem to help quite a bit. And they are good for you!
I thought I was the only one experiencing this! I bend over and there is the heartburn, Tums works but I think I need 3 at a time. I'm going to try the vinegar

White vinegar! I'm swearing by it!
