2IF TTCAL Check In Ladies

I need some feedback from you all.

I am really, really not sure that I'm the best person to run this check in.  I am going to be open about this and I'm hoping for some open and honest feedback in return. 

I put a kind of disclaimer in the one this past week that at the present time I know absolutely nothing about medicated cycles.  The truth is, I am not sure that I ever will  just based on my own personal decisions about what I want moving forward.  I may change my mind about that decision for myself in the future, but that's where I'm at right now.  That doesn't mean I don't want to learn about all of it, but right now I need to admit that I just don't have a good understanding of most references.

So, I feel kind of uncomfortable running this check in when it seems like most ladies on this board (and really most ladies on the bump) are choosing to use medical interventions.  I feel like I don't know the right questions to ask.  I feel like I may not be as good of a support to those that need it.  I am just having a lot of doubts about whether or not this all interferes with my being a good check in host person.

Also, I have only been offering my own replies to everyone on the weekly basis, not as replies are posted.  So I'm feeling like maybe I should be doing that.  Is that something people would prefer?

Based on all of this, I have a few questions I'd like to get feedback on -

1)  Does my lack of experience/knowledge about medical interventions cause any problem with my leading the check in?  Of course I know I will learn as I go but right now I feel like a dolt.

2)  Would you prefer responses right away (same or next day) to your replies from me as the host or is what I'm doing fine?

3)  Is it a valuable check in and worth keeping?

4)  Would someone else prefer to be running it?

Please feel free to reply here or PM me (but notify me please).  I just want to have an open discussion on it because I don't want to be continuing it if it is not valuable to others and to the board or if my current lack of knowledge equates to people not feeling like I would be the best leader for it.

    1) I don't think it matters. I think you are doing a great job.

    2) I think what you are doing is great! I look forward to these posts each week!

    3) Definitely!

    4) I would love to but since I have Lupus, I'm not a good candidate to take over. I am very forgetful and have bad days a lot.

    Hi Anita.  I don't think your lack of experience/knowledge about medical interventions causes any problem with you leading the check-in, and I think it's fine how you're doing it now and replying on a weekly basis.  I know some check-ins are run the other way, where replies are posted to each person in that check-in post, but I don't think you have to keep up with it all day long and post replies in real time - we all have kids here and maybe jobs to keep up with too, so we understand that it's hard to be online all day.  I like the check-in and hope it keeps going.

    I'm going to give my opinion but it won't matter as I won't be on here after next week most likely... I think your lack of medical intervention is not a problem for running this support group. This group is supporting those who have infertility and have suffered a loss along the way. This is NOT an IUI or IVF support group (not that I think that wouldn't be a bad idea for those that need it). I usually like responses fairly quick, but I know that doesn't work for everyone's schedule and even sometimes I am unable to check back right away. I would think within a 24 hour timeframe would be appropriate; however, I do not feel that every single question asked you must answer. Sometimes we may be asking the opinion of others within the group along with you... I feel it is extremely valuable place to discuss information and fears that only we will understand. Even those who are trying to conceive their 2nd and haven't gotten a bfp they know how hard it is to not get it but they have never had to go through the hey look maybe God doesn't hate me and my dreams can come true. To the oh no crap reality that no that wasn't the case after all. I have found that going through the loss of a child really does separate us from the rest where we are totally more cautious and less likely to get excited about seeing a positive, etc. (at least that's what I have noticed). The last question I will leave up to the rest, but I don't feel that you have been doing a bad job at all. Stay positive!

    1)  Does my lack of experience/knowledge about medical interventions cause any problem with my leading the check in?  Of course I know I will learn as I go but right now I feel like a dolt.  I don't know a ton about all medical interventions, I am most knowledgeable about what I am doing which is injectibles and timed intercourse.  I think it's ok that you do not have experience with everything.  I don't think anyone does.

    2)  Would you prefer responses right away (same or next day) to your replies from me as the host or is what I'm doing fine?  I don't think you have to respond to everyone.  I wouldn't be able to keep up with a full time job and a toddler. 

    3)  Is it a valuable check in and worth keeping?  Yes.

    4)  Would someone else prefer to be running it? Not me.  I am trying to scarf down lunch at 3pm.  I have been trying to eat it for 2 hours but always have a ton of interruptions at work.

    You are fine. I appreciate your post. You don't have to keep up constantly with all of us. Just our name and what we are doing is fine for me.
    Since you asked sometimes you are so thorough I have nothing to add.
