who got the flu shot?

I have never had the flu shot in my whole life.  I was not planning on getting one until I went to interview a pediatrician.  The doctor highly recommended that I get the shot.  I asked my dr today at my check up and he said it is up to me.  He said it is safe to do but it is my choice.  I don't know what to do.  I feel like it is late in the season but there are a lot of bad cases out there.

Who of you got the flu shot this year?

Re: who got the flu shot?

  • I work in a hospital and it's mandatory, so I got it.  I've now taken care of 15ish people with confirmed flu, and the combination of my vaccine, mask, and hand hygeine has stopped me from getting it (and I've been coughed on and sneezed on and touched etc).  DH just got his today, it's not too late.  You don't just have to worry about yourself, you have to worry about getting sick and giving it to your newborn which won't be able to have the vaccine, and flu season lasts until May and will probably be at peak when we are having our babies.

  • Not only will the flu shot help you, it protects your baby up to 6 months after he/she is born! Since they can't get the shot until 6 months old. I got mine when I was 22 weeks. I'm 32 weeks now. And it takes about 2 weeks for the shot to kick in. I got my Tdap shot last week too.

  • I know about 10 people who have tested positive for the flu.  I got mine and so did my husband and daughter.  I agree it's not too late, I don't think it hits peak until February, and it's been a bad season.

  • I never got it before I was pg with DD1, but now I always get it.

Especially with how awful it's been this year, I'm extremely glad I got it.

  • This is only the second time I've gotten it. But the first time I got it, I got the mist and it made me extremely sick because its a live virus. They don't let preggo ladies take the mist so this time I got a shot and I didn't have any side effects.
  • I got it around 12 weeks.. Kaiser really, really pushes it along with TDAP shot. DH got it as well, as he works in a hospital. Mom and MIL got it too...

  • I got the flu shot this year.  It was actually the first time that I've ever gotten one, but my doctor HIGHLY recommended getting one.  The shot they gave me wasn't bad, and I haven't gotten the flu even though I work around plenty of people that have had it.  I am really glad I did, since I am sure I would have gotten sick otherwise.

  • I got the flu shot; just not early enough.  I did get the flu and it was horrible - there was nothing I could take to help with symptoms.

  • I got mine in September. I work in an elementary school. I never got mine before I had DD, but now I do. I was sick with an upper respitory infection when I was in labor. I ended up having a c-section and was sick during my recovery. I can't imagine having the flu while being in labor. I also wanted to do everything I could to protect my newborn, since she'll be born during the height of flu season.

  • I have never had the flu shot. I probably never will. DH gets one every year and gets the flu about every other year. My doctor does not advocate the flu shot.
