Someone posted about how they are inappropriate for babies and I want to see what everyones stance is. I think that they are cute on little babies with their little bellies that stick out and the little ruffles on the butt. My niece would always point at her belly and say "belly button" with her floaties on..and it was adorable.
They don't bother me as long as they are appropriate. Some of the little two pieces I have seen are barely there. I'm on my phone or I would include links to the ones I'm okay with vs not. I guess what i am saying is it should clearly be a little baby two piece, not a couple triangle of fabric and some string haha

I really would prefer her in a one piece. There is already too much sexualization of kids today. Why on earth does a baby need a two piece? I don't judge people who do buy them, as long as its the cutesy ones like PP said. I definitely side eye the more inapproriate ones.

The only way I would let DD wear a two piece is if it was the shorts and tank top type. I just thing a two piece is more of an adult thing and not appropriate for little girls. But I am also of the opinion that little girls shouldn't wear make up either.
I think if they are appropriate they are fine. I hate the inconveniences of a wet one piece. I will probably stick to tankinis when she's potty training and older. I have no problem with topless babies or naked babies (at the beach for naked babes!) either.

Yup. That being said, I will probably go with a tankini or bottoms with a swim shirt for more coverage/yet still able to change her diaper easily.

For a baby i don't see the need for a swimsuit other than the cute factor. Just a swim diaper. But then again i don't go to public pools, just a family or friends house with a pool.
This is exactly what I was thinking! We bought a little kiddie pool that she and I can play in this summer. I'll prob just put it in the shade so she doesn't get burnt and let her have at it in a swim diaper

we don't have this option. AK is too cold for non filthy rich people to have a pool. LOL We will have to go to a public pool.

Climate definitely makes a difference! I think in SC you HAVE to have one!
Glad you ladies mentioned what a pain it would be to change her in a one piece. We have our own pool so for the most part I think we will just do a swim diaper but for trips I think a tankini is perfect!
I think they are cute - but I don't have a girl, so maybe my thoughts would change. I'm with PP though - a swim diaper is really all they need. It's a baby.
I think it's perfectly fine and cute. I have pictures of myself as a baby in a bikini and there's nothing "sexual" about it. It's just plain cute. I really doubt anyone is going to go around thinking how a baby is dressed too sexy at a pool or the beach.

It may be fine and cute now. But at what age is it inappropriate. Is it inappropriate when a girl is 9 or 10, just starting to get a figure? If not, why even start? What are you going to tell her when she goes to pick out her swimsuit that year, and you won't let her get a binkini anymore? Why even start it?

I'm a swimsuit fanatic and I've always worn bikinis so if I have a daughter, I won't forbid her to wear a bikini as long as it's not too skimpy.
I don't have a problem with it... I think they're cute! What's sad is that we even have to bring up the sexualization factor! Nothing pisses me off more than this! I can't believe we even have to discuss the thought that a baby in a bikini is sexy. UGH! So sick!!!! Cuss cuss cuss!

i agree, it is very sad. But that's the world we live in. I love my bubble where nothing bad ever happens. Now that I have a daughter though, I can't pretend the real world is as happy as my bubble.

I am all for 1 pieces, but given the pps will consider a tankini for the convenience factor. I would never have DD in just a diaper for an extended period of time at a public venue. I may be skewed slightly because I used to be a sex crimes prosecutor. I hate to think about it but you can never be too careful.

Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
good point. I do tend to think of tankinis as one pieces, even though i know by definition they're not. That's what I plan to go with for Alice.
