Success after IF

Bath time ?

Where do you bathe LO?  What age did you switch to using the real bath tub instead of a baby tub?  E's sitting up really well now, so I keep wondering if we ought to put her in the big bath tub with some toys and try to make bath time fun.  She is at least tolerating baths now, but she's still not happy about it.  She sucks on her foot the whole time.  Silly girl.  Obviously we would never walk away while she's in a big bath tub, but does sitting in water in the tub make them more likely to topple over?

Re: Bath time ?

  • I use a support seat in the bath tub.  It makes things easier for me.  They love it & bath time is sooo much fun, if anything I have a hard time getting them out :)  I used the baby tub until quite recently.

  • DD is so tall that she outgrew her infant tub about 2 months ago, but I didn't feel she was stable enough to sit her directly in the big (hard enamel-coated iron) tub.  I bought an inflatable Munchkin duck shaped tub that is longer than the infant tub and the inflated back and sides help her support herself.  Now she loves to lounge back in it, playing with her bath toys, with her feet sticking out the end of the tub.

  • We switched to an inflatable tub at 6 months. Then when she started climbing on the inflatable at 11 months we switched to the big tub.

  • You can get an inflatable tum that goes inside the real tub but protects LO from the hard edges. We used one for DS until he was about 18 months.

  • Rose, what is the support seat?
The inflatable sounds like a good option, I'll look that up, thanks!

  • we put the girls straight in the tub with a water level under their ears (laying down) they splish splash the whole time. They love it. We went from the plastic tub to a mesh seat around 5 months, then just throwing them in the tun together a couple weeks later.

  • We bathe C in the big bath tub while we shower.  We have just now started filling the tub up with a little bit of water and letting him kind of lay in it with one of those foam bath supports while we support his head so it isn't in the water.  I can't wait till we can start making bath time fun!

  • We switched from the baby tub to a bath ring around 5 months. We transitioned out of the bath ring to just being in the tub at around 11-12 months. The bath ring was a lifesaver and so is this kneeler:
