    I just wished the lactation consultants in the hospital I delivered were honest and tell me it hurts! They led me to believe that, if it hurt - something was wrong. I even spent a very long day and $50 to see an ears, note, & throat specialist when LO was 9 days old to see if he had a tight frenulum, causing pain when nursing and he did not. I finally gave up because no one told me it's supposed to hurt.. and it will hurt for a while... but then it gets better.., and your nipples toughen up and get used to it. No one told me that. We thought something was wrong all along so I started pumping and my supply majorly decreased until, gradually, it was gone when he was 3 months old.

    Yes Great article!  It is so true that most OBs and pedis know next to nothing about breastfeeding!

    Yep, me too. I finally asked an older nurse who told me she had 6 kids. When I asked her if I was doing something wrong because it really hurt, she said... Honey, unless you've had someone sucking on your nipples every 2 hours round the clock for a month, it's gonna hurt like hell. I appreciated her honesty to say the least!!

    I had a wonderful nurse like this and thank her everyday!
