March 2012 Moms

Whew busy week!

Hi ladies,

So if any of you remember, I was having health issues.  I had my colonoscopy and endoscopy Tuesday.  The prep on Monday made me so sick that I couldn't stop throwing up and got super dehydrated.  Like I didn't pee for 6 hours and even drinking the colon cleansing solution nothing came out for 13 hours and the nurses couldn't find my veins I got so dehydrated.  Never agree to do a clear liquid diet fast while nursing.  NEVER.  After the nurses finally found a vein that worked, they had to delay my procedures so they could pump me full of enough fluid and Zofran so I would stop throwing up and they would feel comfortable putting me to sleep.  The colon was completely clear of anything, so they still have no clue where the blood was coming from and the GI specialist said that pretty much rules out Crohn's disease, too.  However, the stomach lining was pretty inflamed and they took several biopsies of parts of the stomach and I'll have to wait on the results of that before we know anything more.

Along with that, my mom came to visit for Tuesday into Wednesday to let me rest and recover.  She took night duties for A since I had to pump and dump from the anesthesia, so I got to sleep!

Now a happy ending so far to the week-- A started walking.  She took 9 steps unassisted and then knelt down and started clapping and laughing.  Then a mom in my play group came in late, heard A was walking, and started complaining that she missed it.  So I stood A up and let go and A wobbled for a second, then took 6 steps unassisted and sat down and clapped and had the biggest smile on her face.  So just shy of 9 months, I don't think I can say "Walking is coming soon" anymore...  AHHHH!

I won't be around much after today until probably the end of next week, so I'd also like to wish you all a Merry (or Happy Smile) Christmas and a Happy New Year!  Or, if you're Jewish, I super missed Hanukkah...  Sorry.  Happy Belated Hanukkah.  And I don't know anything else about any other winter holidays, so *apply appropriate greeting here.*

  • I was JUST thinking about you today! My girlfriend is having GI issues and I was wondering what was going on with you. Thanks for posting! Glad to hear it is not Crohn's. I hope they do not find anything serious in the stomach biopsy.

Congrats on the walking!! Can you run down her "evolution" to walking? I am wondering if DD is close.

Well, A has been crawling for 2 or 3 months now.  She actually was pulling herself up on stuff before then and has been "walking" if we held her hands since 4.5 months.  It got to where she started pulling herself up and then letting go and standing.  Then the standing went for longer periods of time.  She also started holding our hands less tightly when she would "walk" with us.  Then I started letting go of her after she'd take a few steps.  She used to stop and stand and then fall over.  Now she'll stop, stand, and then continue walking.  She'll definitely take steps on her own now, but she still drops to a crawl when she wants to chase something because crawling is still faster for her.
