If this baby is a girl, we have decided to name her Emily. A few weeks ago, I started considering whether we should spell it Emily or Emilie. Does anyone have any opinions? DH thinks Emilie is trying too hard....
No apologies necessary! Thanks for the advice! I was thinking the same thing - if we did the European spelling, she'd be correcting everyone for the rest of her life. Glad you all could make me see the light! ; )
As a teacher, it's difficult enough to learn names, nevermind all the diff spellings. Last year I had an Emily who wanted to be "Emmaleigh" and an Emilee. In the same class...ugh.

This. My whole life I've wished my name was spelled Shelley and not Shelly. Everyone assumes it's Shelley and I'm always having to spell it.

Wow, that's funny because every Shelly I know spells it Shelly.
My biggest pet peeve is when people change traditional spellings to make them "different". So personally I say go for Emily. Plus if she ever wants to have those key chains and pencils with her name on them you won't find them spelled "Emilie".

Agreed. It will be easier on you and your DD if you spell it Emily. Neither of you will have to correct it so much. Love Emily btw!
