Pump & dump guidelines??

My daughter is 5 months old & I am EBF. Smile I haven't had a drink since I found out I was pregnant with her. However, my company Christmas party is this weekend & I would like to have a few drinks & just wanted to know how long after I drink do I have to dump my milk for?

Re: Pump & dump guidelines??

  • I was told as long as you were feeling the effects of the alcohol you had to pump & dump. Generally one drink you're fine, more than that you'll probably have to pump & dump.

  • Breastmilk has the same alcohol content as your blood.  As soon as the alcohol leaves your blood, it's gone from your milk, too.  If you are feeling sober (that means no buzz), it's safe to feed/pump.

  • If you're well enough to drive, you are well enough to nurse.
