April 2013 Moms

All I want to do is sleep.

I just can't seem to get my energy back. I'm sleeping 8 to 9 hours every night if not longer and still feel like I could fall over by noon. I usually take a quick nap after work but am still ready for bed by 9. Friends at work keep nicely telling me I look worn out and I just reply back that I truly am.

I had a couple weeks at the end of 1st TRI that I was feeling better but that went away fast.

Is there a chance I won't get my energy back before baby comes?

Re: All I want to do is sleep.

  • That's how I am too.  I would say that I have slightly more energy than I did in the first tri -- ie, I get through the day fine, but once I'm home, forget about it.  I just fell asleep after dinner, totally collapsed on the sofa with my husband, and when I woke up it was with a bad headache . Boo.  I would go back to bed, but we have a phone date with our realtor in a few minutes.

I want to go to there.

I remember feeling completely worn out throughout my last pregnancy. It is not fun. Just try to embrace as much sleep as you can while you can! Making a baby is hard work!

  • I've been going through same thing but hardly getting sleep at night.  Im up and down all through the night...and it's not to use the bathroom, mainly because of CRAZY dreams.  I work in a call center and I end up falling asleep at my desk for like 30min.  I take my vitamins and eat like I'm supposed to... I just feel literally drained! So you're not alone!
  • yep me to! I slept 12 hours last night 10pm-10am and then had a 45 minute nap before I had to work today at 3!!! and the only reason I am awake at work is cause my husband made me one mean latte ;)

  • I'm in the same boat. Just getting ready in the morning is enough to wear me out. I never have any energy.

  • I feel like that too. With my son I felt great in my second trimester and most of my third. This time I have no energy. I felt better for weeks 14to 16 after that my energy dropped again. I don't think it will get any better before baby is born.

  • Same here lady. I felt way better once I hit 2nd tri, but these past few weeks, my energy has completely disappeared.

I get at least 8 or 9 hours of sleep every night too and I wake up in the morning feeling like I've only gotten 4 or 5.

At work I fight to keep my eyes open all day, and I'm consistently counting down the hours until I can go home and jump in my bed or just relax and do absolutely nothing with my life lol.

I could take a nap after work and still be exhausted by 8 or 9 o'clock just like you. Glad I'm not alone in this, because I was starting to worry. :(

  • I'm usually ok as long as I don't do anything after work. Last night I had a work dinner with no time to go home first and didn't get home till 10. Today I feel horrible. Couldn't get up, and just feel achy and tired. It didn't help that I had a lot of trouble sleeping. I just want to go back to bed.

  • Just a thought/possibility - could your iron be low?  I think a side effect of low-iron is that always exhausted feeling.  Its around now that we've depleted most of our natural store and you need to up you iron intake through food, or possibly a supplement.  Ask your dr first, she can probably confirm through a quick finger prick.
