We started our registry last night and I had them print out a copy for me. Just now as I was going through it, I saw that they took the liberty of putting a few things on there.
1) On the online registry, it listed "Store-Value Gift Card -- QTY 1" -- I removed this when I got home. On the print-out it just says, "GC's are welcome" with no requested quantity. I think people understand they can get me a GC if they want and I don't need to look like I'm asking for them.
2) On the print-out (not online), if something I added has an available protection plan/needs batteries, it lists, "Protection plan/batteries requested." Does anyone know how to remove this? We do not buy protection plans on any products --- EVER --- and I don't expect other people to get them for me, either. I think this is an awful practice for BRU to follow. What a rude way to upsell!
Re: BRU registry -- what the heck?
Did you start the registry in store? Did you fill out a form? When I did my registry there those were questions that you had to answer on the form. Maybe you didn't answer them and they just took the liberty to assume you wanted them.
If you're having problems just call the registry costumer service number. They were very helpful when I had problems with the registry.
I still have the form I filled out (they give it back). We never discussed the protection plan and it's not an option on the form. I will be going back and having it removed. After I posted, I googled and found a post from October on the Baby Shower board where someone similarly complained. Looks like it is removable, thank goodness.
What buttheads.
While I don't think it's a big deal to say "Gift Cards are welcome," I think it's tacky to say I'm requesting a quantity of Gift Cards like the online registry was showing -- similar to how wedding registries requesting cash are poor etiquette.
I have to go back to finish my registry, so I'll tell them at the store.
I just hope that sharing this with everyone now will help those who still have to register. Now others can tell them up front to not even THINK about putting it on there if this bothers them.
It was a question on the back of my questionnaire... I said no, this is no. 2 and its just a list of thing we need to keep me on track, plus the completion coupon!
Baby #2 due 8/17/17
I wish I could. I mean I could, the only thing stopping me is the fact that we do not have a brick & mortar buybuyBaby. I like giving my older relatives/friends the ability to walk into a store and I'm not sure if Target will have enough to offer.
I couldn't agree more! Such a different experience- I actually deleted my entire BRU registry once I went to BBB. Now I'm just doing Amazon and BBB registries.
Just for a follow up... an employee from my local store called me today to let me know that they are there if I need anything. I said, "Oh. That's great! You can help me now..." and asked her to remove the protection plan wording. She said it's removed.
I was in the store last night, but the girl they had working there does not typically work in the registry department and couldn't get it removed. How timely of a phone call! I will go in the store in the next few days and have my registry printed out to be sure it's gone (since the only place it's shown is on the actual in-store print out).
