Pregnant after 35

TTC at 45

Bonjour (Hello) ladies,

I am international bumpy TTC at 45. I got married to a Frenchman about a year and a half ago in Hawaii, the state where I am from. We live in France, now.

My husband is 38, and we really want to have a baby.

I have an appointment with the gynecologist next week. I am really excited but anxious. I have a lot of concerns and questions. Any other ladies out there in their 40s and looking to conceive?

I am concerned that I won't be able conceive because of my age but I've been reading about celebrities and women over forty who've conceived.

I am also about 50 pounds overweight and that has caused my periods to be irregular. My gyno in Hawaii told me that is because of my weight. I am trying to lose weight...

I just wanted to introduce myself.

 Bon nuit,

hulagirl

  • Going to a gyno is probably a good first step but it might be more effective to go to a reproductive specialist if you want to be aggressive in your efforts. For what it's worth my OB's friend just conceived naturally and she's 46, she thought for sure she'd need to go the donor egg route, so it does happen!

  • Salut et bienvenue! I'm very jealous of you living in France! I agree with pp-- you should check out a reproductive endocrinologist, who will be more aggressive and not take a "wait and see" approach like a gyno might.

My great aunt had my 2nd cousin when she was 42 (she's 102 now), so it can definitely happen! Good luck!

(And check out the TTC > 35 board-- those ladies are a GREAT resource!)

Thank you for your support. The French gyneco says my body is healthy enough to have a baby. Wish me luck.

aaaahhhh. A reproductive specialist. I shall look into that if we don't conceive in about 6 months.

    Thank you

Thank you. Yes, it's quite lovely here. I shall check into seeing a RE.
