I was in babies r us today and they had wipes on sale buy 1 get 1 free 400 count. I started to purchase but then seconded guessed if they were a good deal.
What's a good price for diapers and wipes? Seems like they are always on sale somewhere. Is there a price that makes you say that's a good deal?
Break it down to price per wipe and that usually gives you an accurate idea. We started out buying individual boxes of brand name wipes, but the boxes are wasteful and expensive. You can get refill packs for about $.03 a wipe name brand and even less store brand. Amazon.com even has a subscription program where they'll send you refills every few months automatically!
FWIW, I love everything Up & Up brand (Target) when it comes to diapers, wipes, and baby things. You can get 792 wipes for $13.96 which comes out to about $.017 a piece.
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
I do amazon.com subscribe and save for diapers and found that the price per diaper for the diaper brand we like, Luvs, is cheaper than the sales and warehouse stores. They deliver a box at the beginning of the month, no shipping costs. So easy. For wipes I just get the biggest box at Target of the generic. We like the sensitive skin ones. I find that the generics are cheaper than the brands on sale and the big boxes often are about 2 cents per wipe or so
I always found the Target brand diapers to be cheapest, but since Target is an hour away from me now (sob), I'll have to start checking out the local store brands and stuff..
I have read that .02 per wipe and .10 per diaper is a really good deal, but since I am brand loyal to Pampers, I have only ever found those prices once in the last two years.

You just have to comparison shop, like everything else. Once you start buying you get familiar with the prices and will know then. But not all wipes and diapers are created equal, so I find it tough to stock up in advance unless you know what works for you and what doesn't. For us, Pampers leaked on baby boy. But Huggies work well. I have heard the exact opposite from lots of other people though, so what works for me may not work for you.
Wipes, I personally like the Target brand wipes. They are easier to pull out one at a time. Pampers and the huggies in the hard plastic tubs, I end up getting a whole bunch out at the same time. (I think its a plot to sell more wipes). And some other kinds aren't strong enough and tear when you pull them out.
In the best of times, baby stuff is totally overwhelming!
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
Well I'm a couponer so I pay no more then 99cents for a pack of 500 (.0019 per wipe) when they go on sale at my local Fry's (Kroger) which is pretty often. I get as many as I can with my coupons. I have about 20 packs waiting for LO to arrive
I also love the "non-name brand" wipes. We get them in the biggest box, bonus points for coupons.
For diapers, I found a buy one get one 1/2 off deal before DD was born on Amazon, ordered 2 HUGE boxes of newborn diapers, and she grew out of them before we got through them. So maybe don't do that. haha One box at a time after that was good.
Luckily the diapers I did order early were Pampers, she ended up being allergic to every other brand.

Tell me more...we have Kroger where do you get coupons? Sunday paper or online?
Obviously I'm biased (I work for TGT corp), but I have found that the Up & Up brand is just as good -- if not better -- in EVERY product, than name brands.
I would die if I were an hour from Target.
I would also check out CostCo if you have a membership!

Yes get the coupons from the Sunday paper. Frys value coupons to $1.00 so the 50cent coupon in the sunday paper is now worth $1.00. Pampers and Huggies wipes at least once a month will go for 1.99 which makes it .99cents. You'll want to check your Kroger coupon policy but I believe the double to $1.00 as well.
Ask friends and family for their coupons cause chances are they don't use them. And try Coupons.com as well. In a couple months, due to expiration date, I'll also be stocking up on the Gerber Fruities. I can usually get those for free!!

Yes I miss it a lot I used to live within 5 minutes of TWO Targets! All we have in town is walmart, k-mart, Price Chopper, and a number of various pharmacies (kinney's, walgreens, rite aid, etc.).

That is awesome. Thanks for sharing those tips! I'm going to look into this! We've been getting everything on Amazon because it really is a good price and so convenient to have it all just sent to our house, but I'd rather get things for free or ridiculously cheap!
If you ever have questions feel free to message me. I'll do a post when I see super cheap or free deals for baby. If you have a Kroger, Pampers wipes are 1.99 now and there were coupons I believe 2 Sundays ago so I'll be stocking up on some more this weekend!
I agree that less than $0.02/wipe is a decent price. I get the natural Huggies wipes at Costco when there is a coupon. I think its like $23 for 1100some wipes, which is about $0.02/wipe.
It really depends on the size of diaper on what a good price is. With my daughter, anything under $0.16/diaper was a good deal. I actually found it cheaper to buy pampers on sale or with coupons than it was to get store brand diapers. Sometimes you can get really good deals online. My daughter is now a size 3 and Anything under $0.20/diaper is a good deal. I usually go to Costco for Huggies when they have coupons too. Then it's around $0.19/diaper, believe.
I went back and purchased the wipes I was able to get 800 wipes for 7.99 after my coupon so it comes out to less than 0.01 per wipe. Super excited! I don't think i'm going to buy any diapers until LO is born and we figure out brands etc.
Just throwing it out there that cloth diapers and wipes are ultimately the best money saver.
When I do buy disposables, I have found amazon.com/mom's subscribe & save to be the best deal. The big brands are cheaper that way than the store brands.
