Any last names that make cute first names?

I am almost due with a little GIRL ,and would love some suggestions of last names that would make cute first names .They can be unique, trendy or have a masculine meaning i don't mind I just DON'T want any that are too crazy and don't sound like a first name at all. I know not everyone likes this type of name , but can you just list some you think are cute,or ones that you have heard,or ones that are popular right now or any you can think of.Thanks!

Re: Any last names that make cute first names?

  • Quinn

I can come up with a ton of boys names for this (sullivan, brady, Grady, Jackson etc) but Quinn is the only girls name that is also a last name that is coming to mind.  I like the name Quinn but my dh doesn't because it is a last name.

  • I agree with using a name from your family because it seems more legitimate than trendy. I went to college with a girl, Crosby, which was her mother's maiden name. I shop at a dress store back home with a salesgirl named Smith which is also a family name. I find Crosby cute and Smith could only pulled off by a gorgeous, confident girl IMO and this girl was.

I suggest taking a look at your family tree. I think it's kind of cool when people use a surname from their family history. It's such a fresh way to honor family members.

This.  DD's name is my mom's maiden name, and my SIL's name is her mom's maiden name.  I'm not really a fan of using random surnames for either sex; I think it's much more meaningful if you have some kind of connection to the name.

  • I love last names as first names, unfortunately, DH doesn't agree.

My favorites for a girl are Campbell and Kennedy. Other last names I've heard and like as first names are Taylor, Leighton, Sloane, Blaire, Harper, and Piper.

  • Like others said, I think it's better when a family name is used.  Unfortunately for me, most of my family names don't really work as first names.

Here are some that do work: Hadley, Taylor, Harper, Parker, Kennedy

  • I must agree. I like the idea of last names being used as first names if they are directly correlated to one's family. For us really our only possibility is Dakota. Though my grandmother suggested I name this baby Marsha as her maiden name is Marsh.

  • None....maybe if it means something..like a family name but last names as fn are not cute. Its silly imo.
  • I like Laine.
    ....but I'm biased.
  • I don't necessarily like last names as first names, unless they're family names.

My last name is Britton and people have been using it as a girls name. It gets a big thumbs down for me, but I guess if it's your taste go for it.

  • We tossed around Palmer and Parker for a girl before ditching it for a really traditional name Kate.

  • I agree with PP about looking into your own family for a last name to use. It would have a much nicer significance that way rather than just picking some random last name.

I actually know a girl named Marsh.  It was her mother's maiden name.

OP, other girls I've known with last names as first names include Britt, Merrill, Hollis, Steadman, Holt, Tate, Stuart, Campbell, Ellis, Carson, Yates, Raines, Somers, Dare, Massey, Neely, Norris, Lisle, Llewellyn, Hunter, Darden . . . I seriously could go on and on because family surnames as first names are really big where I live.  But the key is that all of those I listed above are actual family names.  Please, please use a name that has significance in your family!

  • My sister just had a baby girl and since she didnt give the baby her last name she still somehow wanted to put her name somewhere so she named her baby girl Carter which is her last name. It may be a bit masculine but she loves it.
