So I've heard and read that Listeria is extremely dangerous while pregnant. Ive also read that many people have eaten different deli meats etc but just to make sure you heat it up first and then immediately cool it in a fridge if you want it cold. I'm unsure because I don't want to contract it but I also have been having crazy cravings for lunch meat or subs. Any advice?
I ate turkey and cheese sandwiches quite often through my first pregnancy because I loved them. I also ate deli meats with my second. My doctor said it was okay.
Listeria can be found in many deli foods, lunch meat is one of them. Heated to steaming is the safest bet. I'm not sure about cooling it back down in the fridge. I just ask them to microwave and then toast my subs at subway
Ive been eating a lot of ham and cheese sandwiches and I've snuck a few cold subway sandwiches in. Subway is right next to my work, I can't help it! haha. But I'm also scared, this is my first pregnancy so I'm at odds about what I can and can't do besides your normal stuff like alcohol, raw fish, caffeine etc.
Also, how can I get my ticker to post with my postings?

It is up to you if you want to eat lunch meat during pregnancy. After doing my research I have eaten more cold subs this pregnancy than I count, including one today for lunch. I won't eat sandwiches that have been sitting out all day but I wouldn't do that before pregnancy either.
Since I have been pregnant there have been listeria outbreaks in cantaloupe, apples, lettuce, onions, ricotta cheese and several other types of produce. I don't have a source on hand but I did read that the second you cool lunch meat again listeria can be present again so heating and immediately cooling would not actually solve an issue.

The doctor recommended that pregnant people try to eat cooked meat, because it may be the presence of bacteria. This is very serious for pregnant women.Good luck to you!

All this. I also don't have a source so I'm not preaching it as gospel but last pregnancy my doctor told me that listeria, unlike most bacteria, actually grows in the cold so it's eat it as is or eat it hot but heating and cooling puts you back at square one.

You can have caffeine. I drink tea daily. If you want to drink a ton of it, I'd go for a decaf option, but caffeine in moderation is a-okay.
My doctor said I could still eat lunch meat just not from a deli or Subway if it's cold. If you get the lunch meat that is wrapped in plastic and then in a container it's been double sanitized so my doctor said that's the safest.
Re: Listeria and foods
Yes basically that is it. I have read that you can be more likely to contract listeria from soft serve ice cream than lunch meat.
Do what you think is best for you. Just be aware that listeria can be found in more than just lunch meat... like fruits and veggies.
I live on the wild side and thoroughly enjoy all fruit, veggies and cold meats.
