Loss of a Twin

Hi guys,

This is my first pregnancy, I just found out yesterday (21 weeks pregnant) that I lost one of my fraternal twin boys. I had no symptoms or anything, so this was pure shock. (My last appointment was 2 weeks ago, and everything was looking great). They found no heart beat and no movement. I am feeling a lot of mixed emotions. I am very upset over the loss, yet thankful that I still have one healthy baby, but nervous that the same will happen to him. The doctors had no explanation for what happened and why..They checked his placenta and everything looked healthy. I have heard that this happens alot.. It is just very hard to deal with.. Has anyone ever gone through the same, or have any advise for coping?Sad

    BFP #1: 12/2009 m/c 1/2010 BFP #2: 6/2010 m/c 8/2010

    BFP #3: 10/2011 ectopic 11/2011 (right tube removed, learned left tube was probably nonfunctional due to scar tissue from infection after m/c)

    3 failed IUIs, IVF #1: 18R, 12M, 10F, 3 poor quality 5d embryos transferred= BFP #4!!!!!

    Betas: 9dp5dt: 64 ~14dp5dt: 91 (expecting miscarriage, doubling time of 236 hours) ~16dp5dt: 200~18dp5dt: 500

    First Ultrasound at 6w2d revealed two sacs, only one with a heartbeat

    LK arrived after 42 weeks on August 14, 2013! Beautiful, healthy, and happy!

    TTC#2: IVF booked for April 2015

    Surprise BFP#5 February 19, 2015 EDD: November 2, 2015

    Betas: 10dpo: 10, 14dpo: 77, 17dpo: 270

    First Ultrasound at 5w1d showed a miracle UTE baby! And right ovary ovulation to left fallopian tube.

    JD arrived at 38 weeks on October 20, 2015.

    TTC #3: Since October 2017. BFP #6 July 2, 2018 EDD: March 16, 2019 [/spoiler]

    We lost one twin at 12 weeks so not as far as you are along. I was in shock for what felt like months. You still have one healthy baby and need to take care of yourself. that's the only advice I have. Sorry its not more.

    BFP # 1- DS ~ TTC #2 since Jan. 2012 - BFP # 2 - "Baby Elsie" - Blighted Ovum - D&C August 22, 2012 at 7w3d, BFP # 3 - CP - December 30, 2012, BFP # 4 - CP - March 19, 2013 ~ First RE Appt. 4/24/13 Med cycle #1: 50mg Clomid and Trigger shot = BFN. Med. Cycle #2: 6 cysts found. No meds/rest cycle. Trying on our own = BFP # 5! Beta #1 = 77, Beta #2 = 129 Beta #3 = 94 - CP - July 2, 2013. BFP # 6! Beta#1 = 21, Beta#2 =58 Beta#3 = 134. U/S shows heartbeat of 142 at 7w2d!

    I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for you and that other baby will stay healthy. I have several friends who have lost one twin and delivered a perfectly healthy other twin.
