since this wil be our last baby I hate to dump a ton of money into clothes i will only wear for a short time. So, do any of you girls have secret places you buy nice inexpensive maternity clothes. I am comfortable wearing sweats around the house but I would like to have several nice outfits for church and when I have to the store or homeschool events.
We only have Target that sells maternity and that is only 4 racks of misc. stuff. ugghh
I have the same question - I'm interested in the range of options - from casual/inexpensive to a bit nicer since I have to dress more formally at work. In addition to what the PP noted - Pea in a Pod (online) looks like a good place as well as Rosie Pope - although that's on the pricier side. Still looking for more ideas
Also - and I'm sorry if this is a silly question - but are maternity clothes made to work no matter how far along you are? Like jeans - do the same pair fit at 4 months as they do at 8? How does that work?
Me: 37 DH: 37 TTC since Jan 2012. RE consult and initial testing done in Aug 2012: SA fine, AMH 1.1 & HSG clear - on way to IUI but got BFP on 9/10/2012. m/c 10/3/2012 at 6w5d. BFP next cycle which was a c/p. IUI #1: Clomid 100mg 12/6= BFN. IUI#2 (unmedicated) Jan 2013 = BFN. Hysteroscopy 1/25/13. IUI#3 Clomid 100mg 2/23 = BFN IUI# 4: BFN. IVF #1 April 2013, BFP! EDD 1/12/14 with Boy!
I bought some things on sale at motherhood, but they were still more than I wanted to pay for clothing I would never wear again. My best deals came from kohls online clearance, consignment shops and goodwill type stores. Some of the tops - the non stretchy fabric, dressier blouse type tops - I bought for the beginning stopped fitting comfortably a couple months ago, so not everything lasted the whole pregnancy.
This may sound counter-intuitive, but Macy's actually has an amazing maternity clearance rack. I bought some really great stuff there and I was averaging about $10 an item! I did splurge on one pair of nice dressy pants for $35, but they were not even on sale, much less on clearance. They had a better selection than anywhere else I looked. My local Target is PATHETIC. Like yours, mine has 3 or 4 pathetic racks and that's it.

I actually bought most of my stuff at local secondhand stores that specialized in kids & maternity clothing. I think the condition/quality was a little better than typical Goodwill, but for very reasonable prices. The few new items I bought at Kohl's on clearance, but I also have some non-maternity stuff from Kohl's (stretchy) that I bought a size larger that fits. For this pregnancy, I also bought a batch of stuff from a friend who no longer needed hers, and have borrowed some tops/pants from another friend. You may want to check your local Craigslist, too. There's certainly no point in spending big $$$ on clothing you may wear only for a couple months. And, no, not every piece of maternity clothing will last your entire pregnancy. I have several tops that are just too short and a couple pairs of pants that are too tight to wear now that I'm 8 months in. They were perfect early on though. Good luck!

I have found a number of cute things at Salvation Army - some with the tags still on - and I'm plus sized, so it was a huge score. I've found some each pregnancy. Good luck.
Old navy is having a killer sale right now online. I have found most of their stuff fits my pre-preg size unless the reviews state otherwise. I love their jeans and they are cheap! I am with you on not wanting to spend a bunch on clothes I won't be wearing after spring!

I bought a ton of clothing on www.madeleinematernity.com after reading about them in both A list mom and Lil Sugar. I found this coupon code ILOVEMM and it gave me a 50% discount on the whole order. I bought the striped t-shirt dress to wear on the weekends which has been great leading into fall. I also bough the peplum top since it's really cute looking at work paired with a forever 21 belt and a pair of slacks. I might go back and buy the Carolina blue t0shirt dress, since the top is so freaking comfy... Anyways gl. I hope you check them out.
I like to shop on the "flash sale" sites like Gilt Group (www.gilt.com) and Zulily (zulily.com). They often have designer maternity clothes at 40% or more off the retail price. The caveat is you have to check them often in order to grab the best deals. Also, Nordstrom's website sometimes has a decent selection of sale items.
With my last pregnancy I did get a few cute items from Motherhood as well, although their quality isn't as good, and the fabrics aren't the best. For the few months you wear them, it's OK though. I haven't been there yet for this pregnancy, but their Heidi Klum line was really cute last time I was pregnant. Not sure if they still have her stuff or not.
I can't believe nobody's mentioned Craigslist! I've bought most of my maternity clothes there for practically nothing - like $5 for a pair of Old Navy maternity jeans or $3 for a Motherhood Maternity top. With that plus what my friends have given/loaned me, I've probably paid about $30 total for 9 months worth of maternity wear.
I still want to look cute w/o spending too much money so I've found a lot of bargains through these resources:
Craigslist, Old Navy, H&M, EBay (for cute designer jeans at cheap prices), Motherhood, Zulily, Goodwill...

Some will fit and some will not. In stores like motherhood or pea in a pod, they have a fake bump that will show you how the clothes will fit later on. That has been a big help for me. Things that look good now just did not work with the fake bump.
I feel like Craigslist it totally hit or miss depending on your area. Metropolitan areas? Fantastic. Not so metropolitan? Kinda sucky, imo. And I fall into the second category.
I loved eBay for my first pregnancy. I'd bid on lots for 10-20 bucks and even if I ended up with just 2 or 3 pieces i liked out of a lot of 7-8 items, I made out.
Kohl's was great, too. Gap.
I'm going to check out Nordstroms & that Madeline Maternity PPs mentioned.
Bought all of mine at Old Navy, Gap and Motherhood. Sign up for emails and search coupon codes. You can get some great deals at Old Navy that way. I work so I needed a full wardrobe, but of you get a few basics, you can mix and match.
Re: maternity clothes.. where to buy
I got some nice clothes inexpensive at Kohl's, Old Navy, Motherhood Maternity, and Target. If you don't have them near you, you can order online.
Good Luck!!!
