Has anyone heard that if the heart rate is in the 130s it is a boy and 150s a girl? I just got back from my 20 week and the heart rate is 138 and my mom now has me convinced we are having a boy.
Yes I have and it's not true. My daughters was always lower than my sons except for 1 visit. I actually heard 170+ was girl and opposite for boy but I don't believe it for a minute. This baby is 148 but I only had 1 ultrasound so far. I haven't had a regular hb listen yet. It's actully coming up on Friday.
Well, we are having a girl this time and I've been comparing stats from when I was pregnant with DS after my appointments. DS's heart rate was always in the upper 50's low 60's. DD is in the low 50's...not a drastic difference, but you can probably see where I'm going with this! Don't buy the blue just based on heartbeat :0)
If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done
When I was at my 16 week yesterday my OB was showing me the heart rate and asked if I thought it was a boy/girl and I assumed by showing me at the same time she was inferring the wives tale and I asked her what the wives tale was again (couldn't remember low/high for boy/girl) and she made the comment that she doesn't trust that until much later in the pregnancy. So it seemed that she insinuated there was some validity, but at a much later date (and by then most people know from the A/S).
I've heard it, but it's not true for us. My little boy is usually 150 or higher- and so was my daughter. My MIL was all about the heart rate telling the sex too- she drove me crazy with it. Since our boy was high all the time too she said we were having another girl and she has always said that we would never have a boy because it was the "generation for girls" whatever that means...but it's a boy this time. Bottom line: heart rate means nothing!
I am having twins. The last time they measured HR was at 14 weeks. Baby A was 136 and Baby B was 154. I was convinced A was a boy and B was a girl. Nope, both girls.

My IVF Journey
Mine was 167 the entire first trimester, then was 143 yesterday when we found out we are having a boy. According to my doc, as you progress in your pregnancy the baby's HR trends down toward the 120s anyway, so heartrate would be a relatively unreliable predictor of gender.
