Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Re: (Untitled)

  • My kid refuses sippies at home.  She uses one at daycare, but throws them on the floor here.  I finally got her to drink from a straw sippy by giving her fruit smoothies in them.  I think the sipppies were too much liquid too fast, so the thick smoothie was easier for her.

  • we tried to months with the sippys I was so frustrated, then finally at 12.5 months he took to one and we never gave him a bottle again. it ended up being pretty easy. I second the recommendation for the Nuk learner sippy (it has a soft spout like a bottle top) and also the born free training cup. If you already have born free bottles, you can buy just the top and put it onto the bottle with or without handles. https://www.amazon.com/Born-Free-Trainer-Colors-vary/dp/B000MRLYHE/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1346714883&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=born+freee+cup

Those 2 cups are the only ones London would try, and then after mastering those he was able to use all sippy cups and cared less about a bottle. Also if you want to try a straw, the playtex straw or Zoli bot straw cups have been great for us and don't leak. https://www.amazon.com/ZoLi-BOT-Sippy-Cup-Pink/dp/B004KV6UH2/ref=pd_cp_ba_3

  • My son was fully off the bottle at 6 months and on a sippy cup. He is 22 months now and still refuses to use the hard spouted cups. They have to be the softer spouted ones, but instead of the cups you have to tip up to drink out of(like a bottle) We got the ones that just has a straw that goes all the way down. So he has learned you don't tip your cup upside down to get the drink out, I feel this works better for transitioning to the open cup. Good luck.
