2 naps

anyone's LO still on 2 naps? i tried transitioning to one a day but he's still tired in the mornings and such a happier guy after a nap.

he sleeps 7-6am then up for breakfast and some elmo, then naps again around 8 for at least an hour sometimes 2...then back down for a nap at 1 for 2 hours!

he literally doesn't walk anymore - he RUNS everywhere and with those little legs going constantly i'm sure he'd be tired but i'm wondering if i should force the transition to one a day or just let him sleep?

my SIL mentioned when she transitioned her DS it was hell for a month but i say why bother? if he's tired he's tired!

advice?

Re: 2 naps

  • Since DS moved to the toddler room at daycare, when he was about 13 months, he only gets one nap a day, but when we've tried that on the weekend at home he is a train wreck, so we still do two a day at home.  I say go with whatever works.

  • My twins went from 2 naps to 1 nap around 12-13 months.

Now that they are walking (late walkers at 14-15 months) and using more energy, they are back to 2 naps again.

I follow their cues and let them sleep when they need to sleep.

  • Patrick takes one nap a day, but sometimes still needs 2. I just go with whatever he feels.

  • I would stick with two naps.  I wish Chloe still took two on some days she's really cranky in the morning.  I did try to make herbtakebtwo the other day but it didn't work and she was cranky before bed.

A lot of kids don't go down to one nap till closer to two.

  • Andrew has been on one nap for a while.  Of course sometimes it's a 3+ hour nap in the afternoon.  Once in a blue moon he'll still take two, but for the most part it's one.

We do the same thing at home.  During the week Giselle is a beast between 6pm & 7pm due to the fact that they do one nap in day care.  I do 2 on the weekends: 10am to 11:30am and 2pm to 3:30pm.

  • DS gets two naps a day when he is at home.  When he goes to daycare he only gets one.  You can tell he is much more tired when he comes home from daycare.  I don't see anything wrong with doing 2 naps a day for a little while longer yet.
