How are you feeling about your post baby body??

So, my first Lo was born 10 weeks early...I had gained a total of 10lbs and hadn't really begun to get big yet so my body went back to it's normal state pretty quickly.

My second LO was born at 37 weeks at and I'm feeling super self-concious about my body now.  I weighed more pre-pregnancy than I do post (thank you nursing) BUT I have way more fat...does that make sense?  Basically I feel more jiggly.  I have stretch marks (not horrible but definitely visible).  I have always had a flat tummy despite being overweight...now my tummy hangs over my pants when I sit down and I hate it....I know I should give it 9 months or so but I can't help how I feel.

How do you feel?

  • I gained over 45 pounds!  I went from a thin 120 to over 165.  Thanks to BF I only have about 13 more pounds to lose til I reach my pre-preg body.  I have way more cellulite on the backs of my thighs, and my tummy just isn't what it used to be;  A little more flabby when I sit down.  However, my face thins out more and more each day, and I find my pre-preg dresses are snug, but they finally fit.  So it just takes time. Don't worry. You aren't alone.

  • I'm back at my Pre-preg weight, but I'm definitely a little more "lumpy" than I remember. I also had a c/s which left me with this flap thing and I HATE it. I'm so self conscious about it.

  • Well, It's almost 3 months since DD was born, and I am still holding onto 20 of the 42 that I gained. I'm EBF and lost 20 immediately, but for some reason this extra weight just isnt budging. I'm not really working out, but I am eating fairly healthy. I'm not pressed on it.  I'd rather spend my time loving my daughter than working out.  I'll get there someday.  Just feel blessed that you and your LO are healthy.

  • I was just thinking about posting something like this.

I got on the scale this morning and I am at my pre-pregnancy weight - 125 - but my body definitely isn't the same. I've always had a flat tummy and a small waist (I'm pear-shaped, so that was one of the few things I liked about my body) and it's now soft and jiggly and poochy. :( I fit in all my old clothes and I'm thankful for that, but I wish I felt better about myself naked. I look in the mirror and it doesn't feel like that's me.

My daughter is definitely worth it, but  it's still hard to accept that I might never have my old shape back.

  • I'm 5 lbs below my pre pregnancy weight and fit in my regular clothes, but my body is definitely not the same. I'm more proud of my body now than I ever have been.  I'm nothing to marvel at but I carried a life, and when I look ar our little girl I can hardly believe something so perfect formed inside me. That totally makes the smushy belly worth it!
  • I was just thinking about this.  I'm a few pounds shy of my pre-pregnancy weight, however my jeans don't fit at all.  I've had to resort to buying bigger jeans :( not happy about that.  It's mostly my thighs and hips that are causing the trouble.

I am working out about 5 days per week, 3 of those days with a trainer and I'm slowly seeing progress in my body.  I still feel very uncomfortable with my tummy, although it's flat.

Yup! With each pregnancy, I have wound up weighing a little less than I did before but my tummy is a little different. I've always been active, and had good muscle tone prior to pregnancies. I know things went fairly back to normal after my first, so I know it will happen again. A little jiggle for a bit longer is fine -- I'm just really glad my clothes fit and the weight is down.

Take it easy on yourself! :)

  • I'm a little below my pre-preg weight & some of my jeans still don't fit. It's weird.
  • I gained 30 pounds and have only lost 16 pounds. Happy with this since for the first time in my life I'm at the weight that I want to be and I look healthy. Luckily most all my pre-preg clothes fit me. I'm happy overall  and know that I am lucky. My only complaint is my C-section scar is still bright, but over time that will fade.
  • i gained 60 and have only lost 32. boo
  • I gained 44lbs and have lost 31 so far. I am having a really hard time with my body, but mostly because I don't have any clothes that fit me well. I either have clothes that are far too big or my prebaby clothes that don't fit at all. Pre-baby I was 110lbs and a size 1/2 so being in this awkward state of lumpiness is really taking a toll on my self-esteem.. but I'm working on it slowly!

ETA: Owen is totally worth EVERYTHING, and even if I am struggling with body image issues I wouldn't change the experience for anything

This for me, except I gained around 30.  I've got 10lbs or so to prepreg weight, but I really want to lose about 40.  I had a m/c before this bundle and got pregnant right after so I did put on some extra.  There was lots of ice cream eating after that event, too, so that didn't help! :)

I've accepted I'll do the best I can to be healthy and fit, but I will probably never look like I used to.

EPing though, and I feel like I have porn star boobs every time I look in the mirror. My boobs are WAY bigger than they've ever been in my entire life, even when I'm empty. I did not see this coming!

  • Losing the weight with DD#1 was super easy- I was back to pre-preg weight/clothes 2 weeks post partum (BFing and first time mom stress definitely contributed).

With DD#2, it took my entire maternity leave (12 weeks) to get back to pre-preg weight/clothes. BFing definitely helps and now that DH and I are done having kids, I can work on losing an extra 10-15 lbs to get back to what I weighed in college. My stomach can definitely use some work, but I'll get there.  :)

  • I gained 30lbs and have 8 more pounds to loose before I reach my pre pregnancy weight. have been trying to loose these last 8lbs since the baby was 1 week old. Everyone tells me how great I look and look at me crazy or make a comment when I tell them I still have weight to loose. I don't have a stomach but my stomach is now jiggly. I feel different and know  my body is not the same.
