Anyone go off prog supps as early as 9 weeks?

Hey ladies,

I'm on 200mg prometrium 2x day right now -- once in the morning, and once before bed. My Rx runs out on Monday if I keep at 2x day, which is right at 9 weeks. When I graduated from the RE earlier this week, I forgot to ask if I needed a refill. I'll definitely be calling to ask, but in the meantime, did anyone go off as early as 9 weeks? Does that sound too early?

I am pretty sure I went off them after 9 or 10 weeks. Unfortunately I can't remember which. When I quit the supps, I was so excited to be done with pantiliners. Little did I know what was in store for me a few months down the road-- I should have bought stock in pantiliners! Be sure to keep them around...

I went off around 8.5wks. It is becoming more and more common for ladies to come off of progesterone sooner than the 'standard' 10-12wk window. My clinic actually has changed to take women off as soon as a hb is confirmed. Of course, this isn't a one-size fits all, but this is the trend now 'emerging' and I go to a very well known clinic.

Im pretty sure Im stopping PIO around 8 weeks. I believe that is when the placenta takes over. I have heard of people stopping around then and earlier so I think you will be fine

Different REs say different things about when the placenta takes over hormone production - my RE felt this would happen around 8 weeks. Others say 10 weeks. Others say 12 weeks. So it all depends on your RE's thought process!

My RE told me to come off it at 8w3d. They did a blood draw at 8w5d that showed my P4 had dropped, but not so far that it was bad/dangerous, so she told me to stay off the progesterone (I was on PIO). I freaked out when I heard how much my levels had dropped, so I asked if I could go on Endometrin 3x a day, and they said I could do that for 1 more week if it made me feel better. So that's what I did. Did I need to do that? Probably not. Did it give me peace of mind? Yes it did!

My RE told me to quit my progesterone and estrogen supps at 9 1/2 weeks.

My levels were monitored with bloodwork and I was taken off of all supplements at 9 1/2 weeks, so it's definitely possible. I would call and double check though.

Thanks for all the good info! My RE's nurse called me back and said I don't need a refill, but they could call one in for me if I really wanted it. I see the OB on Monday, so I'll ask his opinion and go from there.

I taper to 1 a day at 8 weeks and am done at 10 weeks. Good luck!

My re had me stop at 7ish wks. I did a natural fet, so I was making my own progesterone.

I was on Crinone and tapered down to once per day after the first ultrasound and stopped completely at 8 weeks. I was also getting blood tests, so they knew that I was producing enough progesterone at that point.
