Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Care to share your daily schedule?

I'm slowly trying to transition DD to drop her third nap. This is our current schedule and I'm trying to see what a 2 nap schedule would be like. I would like to push bedtime a little earlier.

7am - DD wakes, I BF

8:30am - DH drops off at daycare

9am - Solids

10am - Bottle, nap (usually 30 minutes)

12pm - Solids

1pm - Bottle

2:30pm - nap (again, 30 minutes)

4pm - I pick up

4:30pm - BF, nap on me (anywhere from 45min- 2 hours)

Anywhere from 5:30-6:30pm - DD wakes, I BF

7:30pm - Solids

8:45pm - Bedtime routine (dim lights, book, bath on bath days, diaper, pjs, BF, burp, snuggle) put to bed drowsy, but awake.

9-9:30pm - Asleep

She'll wake to eat between 1-3am, and one more between 4-5am.

My main question is how long is LO's awake time between last nap and bedtime.

Re: Care to share your daily schedule?

  • 5:15. Up for a bottle.

7ish: Up for the day and breakfast.

9:30ish: 1st nap. It could be 20 minutes or an hour. It seems to rotate between morning and afternoons as to which is longer. I stopped fighting it.

    11:30ish: lunch

1:30- 2nd nap. Again 20 minutes or an hour. Depends on the morning nap. If she didn't nap in the morning nap can be as early as 12:30. If she slept long in the morning nap can be as late as 2:30ish.

4:00- She's always up by then and we have a snack.

    5:30- dinner.

6:15. Start bedtime routine. In bed by 7 at the latest.

Up once in the night for a bottle sometimes. Sometimes not.

She gets a bottle with each nap and bedtime, but I'm working on replacing with a sippy.

So basically her awake time between last nap and bedtime can be anywhere between 2 and 4 hours..lol. I just follow LO lead. She's pretty easygoing and it works for us.

  • DS dropped his 3rd nap at 7m and he pretty well fell into a 2-3-4. His day looked like this (we were only doing solids twice a day at 7m):

    7am - wake & BF

    8am - solids

    9am - nap (1 to 2h)

    11am - bf

1-2pm - nap (1 to 2h; start time depended on what time he woke from first nap, so 3h after that.  If he woke at 10:15, he went back down at 1:15. If he woke at 10:45, he went down at 1:45).

2-3pm - BF (nursed when he woke up)

    5pm  BF

    5:30pm- dinner (solids)

6:30pm - bath, BF, in bed by 7

  • 6-ish wake up, 7 oz. bottle

    7:30, solids breakfast

    8:30 or 9, nap

    10-ish 4-6 oz. bottle

    11:30, solids lunch

    1 or 1:30 4-6 oz. bottle

    1:30 or 2, nap

     4:00 4-6 oz bottle

    5:30 dinner solids

    7:00 6 oz. bottle, bed

Even though we do solids 3 times a day, she doesn't eat enough to significantly reduce her formula intake.  We are working on that!

  • My daughter is almost 15 months old, but her schedule has been the same since she was maybe 9 months old. There are 4.5-5.5 hours between waking up from her afternoon nap and going to bed for the night.

She wakes from her p.m. nap between 3 and 3:30. Bedtime is between 8 and 8:30.

Before that, she would have a short 20-30 minute cat nap from about 5-5:30, but like I said, that was dropped quite a while ago.

  • Our food schedule is kind of weird, being that we give bottles AFTER solids, not before like it seems everyone else does.  Anyway.

6am - Wake Up and go play
    8:30am - Solids Breakfast

10:00am - Bottle, Nap (anywhere from 30 mins to 2.5 hours)

1:00pm - Solids Lunch.  On bath days, I do his baths after this, during the daytime.

2:00pm - Bottle, Nap (anywhere from 30 mins to 2.5 hours, depending on if the first nap was short or long, he seems to do the opposite of.  Also, h'e starting to just take a 3.5 hour nap at 10am and no second nap, so that's happening sometimes)

    4:00pm - Snack Time

    6:00pm - Solids Dinner.

    6:45/7:00pm - Bottle, bed.

The time in between is spent doing activities, cleaning, or going out if we have out-the-house things planned.

  • Looks like so many of you have bedtime around 7. That just seems so early to me since DH doesn't even get home from work until 7 most days.

We found that even with trying to keep the babies up, they definitely got fussier and were in their own way, demanding an earlier bedtime.

    Our schedule looks like this:

    6/6:30 wake up

    7:15 bottle of 8 oz

    7:45 solids

8-8:30- first nap for about an hour and a half

    11:30 bottle of 8 oz

    12 solids

1/1:30 nap for up to 2 hours

    4:30 bottle of 8 oz

    5:30 solids

    7:15/7:30 bottle of 8 oz

bed as soon as we are done.

  • 4:30-5am, wakes to nurse and then back down

    6-6:30am--up for the day

    7am--Breakfast

9am--nap starts and sleeps for 1hr15min usually

10:30ish (or whenever she wakes from nap) nurse

    12pm--lunch

    1:30-2ish--nap for another 1hr15min usually

3pm (or whenever she wakes from nap) nurse

    5pm--dinner

    6:30pm--bedtime routine starts

    7pm--nurse

    7:15pm--asleep

She has just started being awake longer between sleeping.  When she dropped her afternoon nap, she was on a 2-3-4 schedule and we did have to bump up her bedtime.  She did used to sleep until 7-7:30am and went to bed around 8-8:30pm, but her wake time just kept getting earlier and earlier no matter what time we put her to bed.  So once she dropped that 3rd nap, I had to put her to bed earlier.

Yeah, we used to wait until DH got home from work at 7:30 to do bedtime and then we would eat dinner after she was down.  But now I have to put her to bed before and since he works 10-11hr days, he usually only sees her a few minutes in the morning before he leaves :(

  • My son is 11.5 months. Dropped 3rd nap at 7 months or so.

    --------

    Awake 6:30/7, nurse

    Breakfast (solids) 8:30

Nurse at 10, nap til 11:30

    Lunch (solids) at 12:30

Nurse at 3, nap til 4:30

Snack 5/5:30 (fruit, crackers, cheese, etc)

    Dinner (solids) at 6:30ish

    Bath at 7:30

    7:45/8 - stories and nursing

    8:00/8:30 - bed

Either STTN or wakes once at 4 to nurse. Phasing that out on his own thankfully.

  • My son dropped his third nap around 7 months. I followed his lead, he didn't seem to want to go down for it, always fought it and when he did fall asleep, woke up after 15 minutes to a half hour. So, as  one of the ladies said before, we are in a perfect 2-3-4 now, or, 2-3-3.5 :)

Times can vary by as much as a half hour, but we have  him on a sleep routine based off of Tracy Hogg's the Baby Whisperer, so here is my son's routine.

    7- Awake, breastfeed

    8:30- Breakfast (solids)

    9- Nap, 2 hours

    11- Breastfeed

1:30- Snack, practice with finger foods

2- Nap, usually ranging 40 minutes  to an hour and a half

    3:30- Breastfeed

    5:30- Dinner, solids

6:45-7:15- Start bedtime routine, bath if it's bath night. In bed asleep by 8 at the latest

Babies this age should easily be able to go 2-3 hours between sleeps. My son, in particular, needs to go 3.5-4 hours before bed so he sleeps the full 11 hours. If he doesn't, he's up at 5. Every baby is different. Hopefully you can gleam your own new routine from all our ideas :) Good luck!

    Hope this helps!

8:00 - bedtime ----- Has been STTN for 12+ hours since 6m old.
